Are gds and sidwell students not wealthy? |
All true. But the difference is not actually the rigor or caliber of the schools. The difference is the parents, as far as their wealth and influence. Signed, a Sidwell upper school parent whose sibling is a Dalton parent. |
There’s definitely rich magnet schools parents. Not sure why everyone who’s smart enough to not spend $50k/year on high school is seen as poor. Magnet schools make more sense for the right kind of family. |
Yes cause the Sidwell crowd isn’t filled with Princeton and Georgetown alum. Let’s be so fr, Dalton is likely more difficult than Sidwell, and that’s really okay. Getting into a New York private high school is no joke and way more difficult than Sidwell/GDS. |
PP here. I just told you my basis to compare the schools. “Princeton and Georgetown alum” is cute—and kind of meaningless/table stakes at Dalton or Trinity. Which was my point. |
Why not face reality that Sidwell is not trying to be Dalton or Trinity. It’s bizarre that you think a Quaker a school, with a national reputation (some would say international), is trying to be anything other than itself. Dalton and Trinity don’t have the name recognition than Sidwell has—that’s a simple fact. You can’t make a legitimate list of top DMV private schools without mentioning Sidwell. It’s also interesting that you hopscotched over several states, with excellent private schools, before landing in NYC to make a comparison you thought worthy of Sidwell. Once again, you should post your irrelevant thought of NYUM. Oops—that doesn’t exist! 😝 |
Nonsense. Cite your source(s). |
I see that fact-free opinions are in abundance in this thread—lol! |
Georgetown?? Our Catholic HS had 10 acceptances. |
The amount of GU alums at Prep and Gonzaga is staggering. Crazy they use that as an NYC example |
+1. This person applied, was admitted, and matriculated through Dalton, Trinity, Sidwell, and GDS. An amazing feat—they must know everything! |
Wtf? |
Sigh. Fight amongst yourselves. My unhooked kid w/out paid private counselors or a Big 3 name got into multiple T10s & 2 Ivies. I could give 2 craps about HS outcomes outside of my own home. It’s weird to see the “prestige” fights. In my experience, the unhooked, non-legacy have better outcomes when they are t at schools with tons of legacy kids. |
Sure: thrive and Leda scholars. Go to their commitment pages and see their college partners. Provosts and university admin fund and serve on the board of thrive. You are way under researching if you don’t know about these programs. |
Poly parent body included Meryl Streep and Jon Bon Jovi when I lived in Brooklyn. You have no idea what you’re talking about. |
