No! This is so much fun! It’s why we are here, to over analyze and distract ourselves.

Wisconsin or UMD. (Waitlist at MI but not holding out hope). Biology major. Maryland resident but money not a variable.

Business. Neither are direct admit
UGA cheaper.

DC will go visit anyways but always fun to see others opinions.

Also waiting on Michigan but very unlikely and $$$

I posted above-- wanted to add. UGA has no direct admit to business and Wisconsin does (but DC didn't get direct admit) and UGA has 2 chances to apply vs 1 try at Wisconsin. So it's a little more of a gamble. That being said, if they vibe with one much more, it won't matter!

UGA

Wisconsin isn’t particularly known for its business school. Too much competition from other, more prestigious business programs in the upper Midwest.

Anonymous wrote:harvard, yale, or berkeley for chemistry

All great options but I visited the College of Chemistry at Berkeley and it was something else. Just the fact that it has such a rich history and all the elements that were discovered there. The prestige of Harvard and Yale is obviously in a different league but College of Chemsitry at Berkeley is awe inspiring.

Fun fact: the "recipe" for crack cocaine was developed by Berkeley chemistry grad students.

I have several friends whose kids went to Charleston and dropped out. Or came home and did nothing. Obvs it’s beautiful, but you have better options.

Thanks. Is UGA known for business or you're saying equal but not as much competition south?

I have a family member that went there and transferred after the first year, as did one of their roommates.

GMU. Great proximity to leading cyber security sector. Profs with ties to industry. Wry much a practitioner school with some of the best statistics for upward mobility.

Agreed! It’s interesting (and hopeful) to see the variety of options and how people decide and weigh various factors. Plus, most of the comments have been relatively positive and helpful. Go DCUM!

Rochester and W&M seem to fit the type of school environment your child seeks. Great options though! W&M a fantastic in-state option for science majors.

Are you serious? CMU with the $37k grant.

CMU unless the 37K grant is very hard to get for the next 3 years.
WM next.

That is part of our concern. We do not know how easy it would get this grant every year and if it would be reduced as income slightly increases.

Unless there’s a goal to work in California specifically, I’d go with IU Kelley. Beautiful, fun campus, highest ranked program on your list, and their career placement is really tough to beat.
