Good for him. I know he's been looking to escape for few years.

Help! New to the area. Who is RP? Looking at FCV for DD but not sure now.

If you’re new to the area, consider Brave.

Lol yea the overall worse club in ECNL. Nope

If there was an award to worst program, Coach, or style of play, who would you nominate?

Fear the brave.

Brave is elite.

There joking.. Brave by far worse ECNL club overall

If I understand correctly:

FCV has quality top girls teams and a GA charter but no fields, no technical director, an owner that doesn’t care about (including because they’re losing money on) the GA teams, and is possibly about to see a mass exodus of its top players, and

Revolution has fields, money, FCV’s old technical director, and a desire to take their club to the next level, but no top girls teams and no GA charter, then

Why isn’t the obvious solution for TSJ to sell FCV to Revolution’s owner, who can merge the clubs?

TSJ can keep the non-GA teams on which they make money and move them to Springfield / Fairfax (to the extent players / parents will move there), Revolution immediately becomes one of the serious girls programs in the DMV, and the current GA players can remain together.

What am I missing?

Any further news / rumors?

+1 on this take

I think the wheels are in motion, and this is what we might see for the 24/25 season. Of course, there can't be any announcements until the ink is dry and they are probably just hoping that GA families will stay put while something is worked out. Undoubtedly, with the silence and speculations running about, they will risk losing those families of top players who can make an ECNL team and who are not willing to risk sitting around through the uncertainty.

The biggest question in that scenario is how successful can CC be at convincing FCV's existing GA teams to remain together? And how would BP going elsewhere impact that? There's a very big difference between FCV parents and Revolution parents. Revolution's bread and butter are the kids who just want to play soccer for fun. Those parents are just happy to watch their kids play and most likely aren't even aware of the different "tiers" of soccer leagues/competition. The parents of FCV GA players are a very "different breed" in that respect. They're knowledgeable about the youth soccer landscape and they know what they're chasing and why. So if CC tells those players/parents, "Come on over to Revolution! It's still the same FCV coaches (except for Bobby) and we're still going to train the same way, etc.", all of those parents are going to ask themselves, "Do I believe that? How can I be sure that will be the case in six months or a year from now?" The Revolution TD is not a good coach (or person, for that matter) but he does have a huge ego. If you're an FCV parent, do you trust that he's going to remain uninvolved with the GA coaching and leave that to CC and the FCV staff? Every parent/player is going to have to decide that for themselves but it seems unlikely that everyone is going to decide that they're willing to take that chance.

CC was the director of soccer for STJ. He failed miserably to build a boys program. The girls are successful even United because of the success of the GA teams and girls going they will get a look. Pull out GA. And the United teams will disperse especially is coaches aren’t sticking around.

The lack of comms is typical of the program and they always have esp with the boys oversold and under delivered.

Is this a decision they’ll make for this Spring (23-24) or next Fall (24-25)? I would imagine the very top players can move at any time, but is there enough room at ECNL clubs to absorb so many GA players this Spring that FCV’s existence is threatened in the near term?
Anonymous
Lol! To imply that every GA player on FCVs rosters is ECNL quality is a bit of a reach. Except for maybe Fairfax Brave, the more competitive ECNL clubs in the area will only be looking to absorb top players and there are only a handful of those at FCV in each age group that could actually displace existing ECNL players.

That’s sort of the question within the question. Lots of FCV GA players / families may be unhappy with the situation, but can more than a handful do anything different in the very near term (i.e., for the upcoming Spring season)?

Yes, make a beeline to a Brave tryout. Fear the Brave!

Finally the Fear the brave troll has a point. makes sense for a group of girls from a GA team to move together to Brave where they’ll play in a better league than hope that Revolution can get GA going

In other words, no, 90% of FCV’s GA players will have no choice but to play for FCV this spring and 75% of them will be there next fall, no matter how much they miss CC and BP.

Thoughts on BSC 08G tie against FCV yesterday?

Both teams are good. FCV missing its striker which hurt. Soccer rankings had them in a tie so as expected.

And 09 Bethesda lost to yet another mid-table GA team. FCV 10s also won in its last matchup against Bethesda. NOVA > Bethesda if they can’t even win against FCV. Imagine what Loudoun would do to Bethesda.
