Try something new? Certainly isn't going to be Republicans. The last new idea the Republicans had was the Southern Strategy of running elections pandering to the racist Dixiecrats and it's only gone downhill since then.

No US worker should ever vote for current crop of democrats. They are the party of educated urban elite. Not US workers

And it has everything to do with believing that Democrats won't deliver on these issues and less to do with believing Trump will solve these problems (we know he won't).

+ a million.

WTF are you talking about? 81 million people voted for Biden. Polls a year out only register that a lot of people like to complain about things and imagine that some ideal candidate might appear out of thin air. Those who want someone other than Biden are all over the political spectrum. No potential candidate would poll a majority at this point.

This is not about a fantasy candidate - it more like voter apathy. All I hear as a black voter is something to the effect that Trump will have us back on a plantation within 90 days of his inauguration. Portraying Trump as the Boogeyman is really not an effective strategy to retain or attract voters.

Exactly. It is always, look the other way at our bad policies, because theirs is worse. Most people would probably like to see changes to allow at least some standard allowance for abortions and caps to control the border situation. Instead all we have is all or other options according to the loudmouths.

Humor me. How are they worse. As a highly educated black woman, I look at how conservatives went after Gay and can only wonder when you will come after me. That's how my highly educated friends feel now. No thanks on the GOP. I'll take my changes.

I didn’t say vote one way or the other. Just saying that most people would prefer loosening on abortion and controls on immigration. Unfortunately, neither party offers that. I’m not coming after you or LGBTQ+. I didn’t grow up in rural America or the ‘burbs where maybe you did.

Pretty much sums this thread up.

"As a black woman, I am voting for Donald J. Trump!" - says white woman holding up "Blacks for Trump" sign.

Are they ever in for a huge disappointment!!

So you’re saying the only real Democrats are white people?

As a highly educated black woman, I’m surprised at your spelling and punctuation errors.

DP — It is an anonymous media post. No one really cares about checking spelling and grammar. S&G are off topic anyway.

They would be but I don’t think Black people are, broadly speaking, gullible enough to vote for Republicans. It’s not that the Democrats are perfect, but two big things that I think of are how the GOP has an obsession with punishing Black people (George Floyd and the GOP love of police violence against Black people and that unfortunate Black woman in Ohio being prosecuted for having a miscarriage) and how they have an obsession with stopping Black people from voting.

So, the question is.......

What will Biden try to do to bribe black voters (and Hispanic voters) into voting for him? He is bleeding support with these groups. We see what he is doing to try to win the youth vote....... college debt redistribution (despite the SCOTUS ruling) and cancelling new natural gas exports.
So, what will he try to do for black voters and Hispanic voters in the coming months? You know his team are conniving to find something.....

Sadly Biden doesn't even have to "bribe" them or give anything - the unfortunate reality is that if they vote for Trump they will move backward and have things taken away from them.

Trump is an urban elite and went to Wharton, considered an elite business school. He also famously stiffed small business owners who worked for him and has a history of hiring undocumented workers. What part of his identity, life, or work history resonates with US workers?

You are so right. US workers should instead vote for Republicans, who want to keep their wages stagnant, who want to take away benefits and worker protections, who want to take away pesky workplace safety regulations, who want to bust unions. I mean, what self-respecting American worker doesn't want that? And no, they don't want a party run by urban elite. Instead they want a party that is run by a slick New York City guy who graduated from Wharton and whose daddy handed him a $500 million-dollar real estate empire.

It depends on the issue. Unchecked illegal migration over the Southern border has been devastating for many black communities. It keeps wages very low, it overwhelms social services, and it overcrowds schools with children that don't even speak English. All this disproportionately affects blacks more so than whites.

Blacks also tend to be more socially conservative than progressives - whether it's trans issues, abortion restrictions, gay marriage or drug decriminalization. The fentanyl crisis isn't just affecting white people in West Virginia. Lots of black families have lost loved ones to ODs, and they think progressive policies that decriminalize hard drugs like fentanyl and tranq are nuts.

I know a few black women who are carrying these days. Good luck trying to take their guns.

Black women and children are overwhelmingly the victims of violent crime. Absolutely no one in the black community is happy with the way things are going in the legal system today. Everyone wants violent criminals taken off the streets - except white progressives. The average murder suspect in DC has 11 felonies. Almost every single one of those prior felonies would have been committed against black people. Not to mention the murders themselves.

Democrats today - like Hilary Clinton for instance - are far more likely to send our soldiers to war than Republicans are. Democrats think the US military needs to be involved everywhere. Republicans are more inward looking these days. And of course there are many blacks that serve.

There are lots of reasons why blacks might not vote for democrats these days. They've been taken for granted for decades, and i think that sense of loyalty has frayed in recent years.
