Longterm dc area residents, have you noticed decline ?

People always trot out the platitude "vote differently!" but there are not genuine choices. Bowser is not great but Robert White was weaker on crime. Many candidates are like the ANC above. Charles Allen ran unopposed. Electable candidates with differing views have to run or the platitude is meaningless. And often the vote is so fragmented that people like Nadeau get in again without a majority choosing her. Whole thing is a mess. We had planned to stay in DC but beginning to make plans to get out. There are so many ways that changing the status quo is blocked by the system. Maybe there will be another financial control board when CRE collapse really hits revenue stream and the ship will be righted by Congress.

And don’t forget trash. Lots of trash. It has gotten exponentially worse with all of the encampments.

Is it worse than when the trash was routinely not picked up in the 90s?

Even after Labor Day?

Tony Williams called them back early one year to deal with uptick in crime.

That Pinto Emergency bill was ineffective, unfortunately. Frumin waffled greatly about it, watch him argue for sunsetting provisions, along with JLG. Despite the shooting on Connecticut Avenue on Saturday afternoon and the shooters running across Forest Hills playground.

Yes, don't return until Sept 16th

The crimes in this piece are sobering. https://freebeacon.com/democrats/dc-teens-are-committing-crimes-in-droves-punishment-is-light/ I don't see the Council changing their stance re: juveniles and Schwab is weak as can be. MoCo has a similar stance and Arlington is rolling out restorative justice, does not bode well for the safety of the DMV or the futures or lifespan of the kids committing these violent acts.

Whole region is having issues with juvenile violence

Exactly. DC native here too. My parents spoke of the 14th street hookers and the times them and some of my relatives came close to or were mugged at knifepoint at times in DC. Yes, I def agree the wokeness has contributed to our city's demise but that's the own people's doing and the woke transplants here that came from bumblefck towns.

LOL I think you have MCPS confused with Virginia's schools.

MCPS has always been terrible. Too many gangs, too much rape, too much of everything.

Carjackings are so bad that people are increasingly “driving small distances” because they feel unsafe! Lol.

You guys, it’s just a matter of framing. Young carjackers are hackers. They are future engineers. Those who are going through our kangaroo courts are gaining meaningful experience in our legal system. They will go on to Harvard Law and lead our Justice Dept. in the future. Cops? Donut eating gremlins.

I don’t know what you think you’re accomplishing by downplaying the real rise in crime we all can see and experience. Definitely not making our city better.

Do you want to come to NE and hang out and listen to the gunshots? Do you personally know people who have been assaulted? Shut up. You are also probably posting from your NW neighborhood, rather than actually listening to the voices of POC who are disproportionately victimized by rising crime.

In the 90s, trains and buses were free of hardcore drug use during rush hour. I've personally witnessed a person smoking crack on the red line.

+1

Same. Nailed it. It is worse than then, and it is because of wokeness. Do the powers at be really think people haven't been in this area that long, to remember?
