| Just throw the kids in the rear and call it a day, you shouldn’t make this so difficult. |

Your wealthy husbands is asking your parents for $3,000 each? There is something so distasteful about this.
Between family members. It is not some business negotiation. Sorry for you all. Values seem to have gotten lost along the way. |
|
So your parents knew you had nicer seats and bought lesser ones with expectations it was a done deal the kids would move. Without checking. I’m sorry.
I liked the suggestion you all move to economy or economy plus and sit together. If there are even seats left. If not would have everyone in their seats for take off and landing but have you and your husband swap with parents for a few hours midway. Let the kids settle in, it’s less chaotic that way. |

Ya think? Hey trade my middle tailpipe seat for your first class, don’t you love me? |
| My issue here is that I suspect OPs parents are like mine. They waited too long and then all that was left was coach. I would pay for an upgrade or use miles for my parents but the never commit until almost all seats are gone. In that case, I don’t feel like I should be obligated to give up the better seats. |
That’s how I’m reading it as well. |
| Everyone involved is bad! Classic DCUM. |
| So your cheapo parents didn’t buy the first class tickets that they needed in the first place?????????? |
I’ll bet this isn’t the first time the grandparents have acted bratty and entitled. My kids would have no problem trading seats in this situation, but both sets of grandparents are really nice and kind. Like begets like. |

It’s okay to cater to your own immediate family (your husband and kids) and not change your plans due to your entitled, bratty parents.
Screw them! They can buy their own fist class seats (that they didn’t buy beforehand). |
I will take things that didn't happen for $100 |
My husband and I fly monthly internationally and we often use first and business interchangeably. Even though, I rarely fly first (always business). Some people just say it as an all encompassing statement for premium seating. |
| If the parents wanted to sit in first class so badly, why didn't they purchase first class to begin with? |
Also, US airlines call their highest premium domestic cabin "First Class". It's an understandable mistake especially for the non-status family member who isn't the one constantly flying/booking. |
