DMV is incredibly overpriced for teams that do not play well at tournaments. Look at the CHRVA rankings here and adjust for your child’s age:

DMV is Vienna Elite trying to break into the MD club market. Fortunately for the MD parents, the established clubs are more reasonably priced. You can attract good players with good reputation and / or good prices and DMV doesn't have either.

This happened for a lot of reasons. As for Metro, everyone knows that they will tell you if you will have play time or not. A club like theirs doesn’t need to be telling you lies so you can sign up with them. They will always have the top girls in the area lining up to play for them every year. Whether you agree or not, it’s just facts at this point. VA Juniors is a club that will most likely let most of the players on the team play and they have great recruitment results.

Not true, but it's very obvious what club your daughter belongs to. I'm sure they tell the players who won't play that they won't play beforehand, just like they wait to tell returning players that they are being cut until actual tryout day.

Regarding the comment “Everyone knows weather or not you will have play time or not at Metro” That’s completely inaccurate, Silvia doesn’t operate that way period. She is up front and let’s parents and players know court time isn’t guaranteed it’s earned.

Just like she is up front about giving kids notice in advance that they're on the borderline of being cut? I personally know of 4 metro travel players who were cut on tryout day without having been given any prior indication that their spot may be in jeopardy. And these kids were all afraid to go to other clinics/tryouts for a backup because if Metro's club director found out that they had gone to other clinics it would have been held against them and they probably would have been cut.

If that's true, it's evil.

It's not like you don't have options after you are cut from a good team. There are plenty of reasons why you can be cut from a very competitive team. Maybe you didn't work hard or other players worked harder. Maybe the coach didn't like your skills / attitude / personality. Let's say you are cut from Metro and you don't want to accept an offer on any of their regional teams. Plenty of other clubs have makeup tryouts. There is always movement after the original offers are sent out and you may even find a spot on the top team of a different club. You get a new start and have a whole new season to reflect on what happened. Your best option would be to meet them on the other side of the net and make them regret their decision.

I saw Metro players in the MVSA rec league and they were back on the Metro roster the next season, so I don't believe Metro is doing that (it might be just in some player's heads). I specifically sign up my DD for programs in other clubs during the summer. That's how you learn what else is out there and see other coaching styles. You can learn new skills or perfect skills by practicing drills other than what you are used to in your club. After an entire club season, I see no point in more of the same during the summer. If the club is so short-sighted to cut her off, she can always make another team.

That Metro coaches aren't as good as those at other CHRVA clubs (usu. Paramount) gets said all the time on these forums and it simply isn't true. Like every club, Metro has good coaches and less good coaches, but the idea that Metro is as successful as they are without having good coaching is ridiculous. If they weren't preparing girls well then college coaches wouldn't want their players, but they have far better recruiting outcomes than every other CHRVA club. I'm sure someone will say that college coaches just care about height, but every year the entire Metro 18 Travel roster goes on to play collegiate volleyball, most in D1. While there are obviously some tall players on those teams, the other players all get recruited too. Of course there is always room for improvement, I think most of the criticism of Metro on DCUM is unwarranted.

There are 350+ D1 volleyball colleges and whatever club these talents attend they will be able to get into d1 but metro's lacking of good coaches( this year gjnc all tournament team 15-17 chrva have 3 and none of them from metro) just wastes these kids' talents unfortunately.

Any feedback on MOJO VB in Maryland? I had not heard of them before. Perhaps 2 levels/age group.

They are in McLean, wrongly assigned in MD by Google maps. This is the club for players with rich parents who cannot make it into a better club. Terribly expensive and the parents have little to show for how much they spent.

NP and we live in Tysons and also looking for recent info. I’ve searched the forum and seen the info that they are overpriced. Unfortunately they seem to be the only club within 30 min, considering weeknight traffic. Do you have other suggestions for a player not targeting the most competitive teams or any other Mojo feedback?

VA Elite in McLean. They are overpriced too, but what can you expect for living in one of the richest areas in the US.
