Should Northeastern be T20? Or even T10?

Could Yale or Brown or some Ivy pull in that much community interest on DCUM for such a long thread? Not really. These "fancy" Ivy-plus colleges also don't pull in as many applicants (50,000 for Ivy versus 90000 for NEU). Neither do these other "fancy" Ivy-plus colleges have the problem of too-many-admitted-students who need to be squeezed into hotel rooms. That is a problem that only happens to high-quality "products" like the crowds at the Apple store wanting to buy the latest iPhone. No one waits in a long line to buy a cheap flip phone. Get the picture of how quality and demand go hand in hand? Lets reflect on that a bit.

The quality of applicants is pertinent here. People throwing an app at NEU at the click of a button is quite a different story from what you're trying to portray.

Also, I wouldn't characterize a bunch of people agreeing that NEU is overrated to be a positive reflection of the school.

You are correct.
Application number and acceptance rate itself alone doesn't tell the whole story. It should be provided with student stats to get the better picture.

2021SAT middle 50%: 1440-1530
ACT middle 50%: 33-35
(Due to the pandemic little less than 50% submitted scores)

2020
SAT middle 50%: 1430-1540
ACT middle 50%: 33-35

2019SAT middle 50%: 1470-1550
ACT middle 50%: 33-35

Quality of applicants is elite level.

SAT scores in decline!

So sorry that Northeastern is such a trigger for you, PP. I'm sure your rejection wasn't personal and you will be happy wherever you end up.

Wow.

NEU never ceases to trigger people on DCUM. There is no rational explanation other than Larlo/Larla didn't get in and, therefore, mummy must yell "yield protection" and "overrated" and "gamed the rankings" as much as possible. It happens with some other schools too (Tufts, Wash U, Emory, Chicago).

Northeastern is not on the same level as the schools you just mentioned. It’s overrated. You don’t need to be personally affected to acknowledge when something is overrated.

It's the opposite.
Northeastern is currently ranked only 49th by USN&WR.
It's way underrated.

However Nothereastern students care much less about those rankings and prestige.

But NEU is top 10 for schools in Boston -- that's still something!

Very true. NEU is definitely top 10 in Boston proper. Especially excluding schools in the suburbs of Cambridge, Medford, and Chestnut Hill. Sorry, OP. We don't see eye to eye, but top 10 in Boston is still quite an honor.

May be top 7.

Welcome to the party, but we've already covered this.

"2022 Best Colleges in the Boston Area" according to Niche (including Cambridge, Medford, and Chestnut Hill)

https://www.niche.com/colleges/search/best-colleges/m/boston-metro-area/

#6 after Harvard, MIT, Tufts, Boston College, and Wellesley

Wellesley is very questionable to me, but that's fine.

So if you exclude those areas, I guess it's #1 in Boston.

This is just blatantly, laughably false. Must be embarrassing to be a NEU alum from when it was genuinely not a good school and spending all this time trying so hard to prove to internet strangers that your alma mater is impressive.

Not as embarrassing as trying to tear down a school to internet strangers because you got rejected from it.

For folks who haven't seen this, I highly recommend this "Public Service Announcement"

https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1051210.page

Basically, it suggests ignoring any threads about which schools are "elite"/"overrated"/"underrated" because they are driven by grievances/insecurities and NOT informed by actual, you know, knowledge of schools.

Pitiful. OP, you would not be so adamant if you were not so terribly insecure. Save yourself before you out yourself (if you haven't already!).
