what do/did you do?

I am a fed attorney. My job is okay. I don't love it and would like to work part time. I don't think that is an option here. I am open to another line of work. Just wondering if anyone left the law so they could work part time.

This isn't exactly an answer to your question (bc you are talking about another line of work) but I'll just throw out there that my attorney friend did it by working as a contract attorney part time. I think she pulled it off because she's really good at compartmentalizing. (I'm a former attorney but now a SAHM. I wouldn't try contract work myself because even a tiny taste of the law got me uptight at bedtime.)

I've heard of some lawyers getting their real estate license in lieu of practicing full time.

Almost all of the contracting/temp firms will be placing people for document reviews. I have a couple of friends that do this and they work for 2-3 months at a time for 40-60 hours a week and then they take some time off before applying for the next contract job. If you have the experience it seems that this is steady work (at least for my friends) but on the other hand all of the Craigslist postings I see by temp firms state that they want document review experience and familiarity with the software.

If you check CL daily, you will occasionally see small law firms looking for part time experienced lawyers to help with overflow.
