Mangos, mangos, mangos! Where do you get the best?

Anonymous
I'm addicted to mangos. I have been known to go through a box of 12 solo in a week. But I want to know where do you get the best ones? I prefer without fibers, sweet and fragrant. Kent ones are good but hard to find good ones. I'm in northern MoCo (near olney). I've gotten them from Indian stores before and that's hit or miss. And surprisingly, I haven't fared well at Costco. Any other places I could try? Thanks!

I buy mine at Patel brother in rockville. I always called to make sure "no fiber" before I stop by the store. So far, the store is always correct with "no fiber"

Try Lotte Plaza Asian store. they have pretty good mangos by the box. they are usually ripe and ready to go so youd have to eat them fast!

Champagne mangoes are the best. No fiber, as you say.

For my money, the flavor of fibrous mangoes is better!!

Now these are not fresh Mangos but in the winter we buy a bag a dole frozen mangos, a bag of frozen strawberries, rinse, throw in blender with orange juice and have great smoothies. Takes 5 minutes and they are a hit with my DC.

Agree wholeheartedly. They are almost out of season now though, I think.

The sweetest mangoes are the fibrous ones. The best ones are the "marathon" brand ones which you can get in some pakistani/indian stores in springfield.

Gosh, I thought all mangos were alike. What mangoes am I buying at Safeway?

Whole foods had some Haitian mangoes a while back and I took a chance. They are basically really large champagne mangoes, but with greener skin - awesome! I did have good luck buying a case at Costco.
