| Where did you get your child's ears pierced at? |
| pediatrician's office |

Took DD (6 y/o) to Claire's at Tyson's. Our pediatrician doesn't do ear piercing. The girls at Claire's were really nice and went a long way to help DD feel relaxed and comfortable.
Then we went to AG store! :o) |
| Tattoo shop in Fairfax. They did a fabulous job! Great attention to placement, sanitation, etc., and spent a lot of time with us. |
| Piercing Pagoda. Whereever you go, call and find out when there will be 2 people who can do both ears at once. Most people seem to go to Claire's. |
| I took my 9 year old DD to "Icing" at Pentagon City. The girls were so nice and did both at the same time. She was thrilled, and I plan to take my other girls there when they're ready to get theirs pierced. |
| There was a recent thread on this topic on a local mom's group. The consensus was that it is preferable to have the procedure done someplace where they do not use a piercing gun that injects an earring into the ear since this can cause scar tissue. Reputable tattoo parlors and some pediatricians use a device that basically cuts a neat "core sample" out of the ear, after which an earring is inserted. |
Sounds PAINFUL. We went to Claires. Second the idea to have two people do it sumultaneously. |
| simultaneously |
| The tatoo parlor is your best most professional cleanest option. They work very hard to build their clientele and to keep their license up. |

Piercing guns cannot be sterilized properly (autoclaved) since they contain plastic components. They also cause much more trauma to the ear than having it done at a place that does body piercings. Younger sister had it done first set done at Claire's, second piercing done at a body piercing place. Body piercing place was incredibly clean, all instruments came out of autoclave bags, and she said it was a lot less painful than the piercing gun.

I contacted a well known tattoo shop in Dupont. They wouldn't perform even the most basic ear piercings for anyone under 18. |
Good for them. |
thanks, this is a great idea that I hadn't even thought about |
| Who takes a child into a tattoo parlor? Claire's is fine |
