DH and I are trying to eat better, but he had a very stressful day at work so I decided to make his favorite meal, chicken parm. I found a decent healthy recipe (seared chicken then baked in oven) and spent a good chunk of the afternoon making homemade pasta and homemade pasta sauce. Everything looked delicious and the chicken called to be dipped in flour, then egg yolk, lightly seared on all sides, then finished off in the oven. Did all that, plated it, and I must say, it looked GREAT. Bit into it, and realized I used confectioners sugar instead of flour!!! I hardly ever bake and had totally forgotten we had it , so I never thought to taste or smell it when I took some out of the jar. At least the pasta and sauce was good and I found some frozen turkey sausage that I heated up.

classic!
You simply have to laugh. |
That's priceless OP, you will laugh about it everytime you see chicken parm don't feel bad
|
| That is awesome. Enjoy the memory! |
| OP here - To DH's credit, he actually just put some hot sauce on the chicken (which he does anyways) and said it was pretty good. (Until I took it away because, gross) I'm not sure if I should give him credit for being such a great husband, or be worried that his taste buds are destroyed! I am laughing now, especially since we are watching Masterchef and all I can think of is what Gordon Ramsey would have said to me. |
| I'd still eat it. Maybe it did taste good. Or, maybe the breaking could be removed? |
| I'm sorry, but the choice of powdered sugar on the parm was a mistake. And for that reason, we have to chop you. |
DH swears it tasted good. It was this odd sugary, sweet, crunchy, chewy...I don't know. I wonder if it was paired with something bitter rather than the additional sweetness of the sauce. Maybe I'm onto something!!! But no, the way it is baked on you can't really take the breading off (it wasn't really a breading, just a teeny coating to give the outside a bit of a crunch/seer) Ah oh well. DH just said we should make cupcakes and frosting in order to use up the rest of the conf. sugar so I don't make the mistake again . haha. I"m liking his thinking. |
OP here: Ha, I did think that after I realized what happened. I remember thinking..."well if I ever wind up on Chopped, I know that this does not go well together". Thanks everyone for helping me laugh this one off. |

I had chicken coated in Captain Crunch once in a restaurant. It was yummy!
I bet your chicken was good as well
|
| I would totally eat that. Funny. |
