Halving a microwave recipe?

I'm trying a microwave risotto recipe, but I'm only making half the amount. Do I cut the microwave cooking time in half too?

I didn't know there were microwave recipes.

Go for and tell us how it turns out. I would keep cooking time the same and just keep checking on it.

The rays will be more concentrated, so you should take the square root of the usual cooking time if you have the recipe, and so on.

Gross. Do you seriously cook like this???

OP here. It was this recipe from a recent edition of Cooking Light. They had a whole section on "microwave cooking" that issue.

I'd never tried preparing a whole dish in the microwave before but it got good reviews so I decided to try it. The only change I made was instead of cooking for 16 minutes after adding the rice, it was done after 12. I kept all other times the same.

The result was actually quite tasty, not gross at all. My "dinner-must-have-meat-in-it" husband actually asked for seconds! But I did not feel like I saved any time using the microwave and honestly don't really see the point, unless you live in a home without a stove. I'll make it again, but will do it on the stovetop.
