Hilaria Baldwin - At it again

And watching interviews in which Hilaria exaggerated her accent, one that she appropriated as an adult, is downright infuriating. While she found success this way, American immigrants from all over the world — especially immigrants of color — are constantly ostracized and marginalized, ridiculed and given fewer opportunities, all for not having “perfect” English. It’s a great source of shame for so many who bend over backward to try to find a place in a society that still largely rejects them.

The decades-old rejection of foreign accents is so widespread and traumatizing that entire generations of children were never taught their native languages by their immigrant parents so that their offspring wouldn’t have the accent they struggled with, the accent that made their life more difficult every single day. These parents were robbed of sharing their beautiful cultures with their children just so they wouldn’t go through the pain of being made fun of and “othered” like they were.

It’s completely nuts to lay all this at Hilaria’s feet. Sure, she embellished and exaggerated and ended up embarrassing herself but other than that I don’t see why people are tearing her apart so viciously.

Pics of Alec from today

Alec is too old for all of this.

Why are you all mean for no reason? He's a very handsome man and their family is gorgeous.

Wow, where I live this doesn’t seem to be a problem. I have trouble finding coherent English speaking people. The cultures are alive and kicking.

Yes - first generation immigrant with an accent.

Lady, I’m 39 and I’d be too old for this.

He is an older handsome man. He is old enough to be Hilaria’s father. He should be enjoying his golden years.

Oy vey the fake victimhood crap is a bridge too far for me. No country in the world does more for immigrants than the U.S. We treat immigrants so well, Hillary is a rich white WASP who decided to cosplay as an immigrant to boost her career. Hillary recognized the very real incentives to be perceived as a foreigner in the U.S.

I do think the People article is mawkish, but I think you're wrong that she did it to boost her career. Her career got NO benefit from it. She got Alec with the cosplay, and that's it.

I used to follow Hilaria on Instagram until she started giving out medical advice. Most of her followers are idiots but a few of us would say that she really should not be doing that because she wasn't qualified and she usually was wrong. Of course she blocked anyone who criticized her.

You don't think Hola! paid her to be on the cover of their magazine? What about all the $50k instagram sponsored posts?

Where did it get Hilaria Baldwin, career wise? She has a podcast- anyone can have one. She's done some sponsored posts- many have done so. Entertainment shows cover her like they cover any other celebrity wife who loves the spotlight. Her Spanish fakery didn't land her any points with anyone except, seemingly, Alec.

This simply isn't the same as a Jess Krug at George Washington University or Rachel Dolezal at the NAACP, sorry.

She was on the cover of Hola magazine representing an accomplished Spaniard.

She just changed her Instagram name to include her maiden name Thomas. Weird how she never had that before.

What career? Amal Clooney, Tran Ho, Alexi Ashe have careers. This nobody college dropout doesn't have one.
