Markle and Hilaria are similar in many ways.

How so?

Well, for starters, both are naturally homely women who managed to score wealthy, successful feeble minded men, both are good actresses, and I don’t mean actress like in a movie, I mean, actresses in life. Both seem to have a weak sense of self along with a questionable family and friend history, past. They both seem to be con artists to varying degrees. I am really surprised that Megan hasn’t adopted a British accent yet.

Oh that’s so unfair! Megan Markle is so much better.

Pretending not to know who a famous person is when you meet them is a completely normal thing to do because otherwise things can be unbearably awkward (you know everything about them, they know nothing about you; it’s weird). You can do it without pretending to be a tv-free Spanish ingenue, though.

Ahhhhgghghghgh! She talked about her skin color (fake) with her daughter on MLK day on Instagram! Hell to the no. She used the expression, "our people." OMG >.< Offensive to the hilt! https://twitter.com/Housewiveslie/status/1343712024866541577?s=20

This is the one that really gets me. She is implying that someone like her is routinely discriminated against based on the color of her skin. That's f*cked.

Pretending not to know who Prince Harry is was put on, she knew everything about PH. Same with Alec Baldwin. Give me a break. They are obviously lying idiots to even pretend not to know who these men are.

I don’t particularly like or care about Meghan Markle but she has done nothing approaching the dishonesty here.

How does it make them lying idiots when they ended up achieving their goal, which was to snag the man? They lied, yes, but that doesn't make them idiots. More like successful schemers.

Well, the men are the sad idiots.

Pics of Alec from today

Alec is too old for all of this.

I think the people article said it pretty well:

And watching interviews in which Hilaria exaggerated her accent, one that she appropriated as an adult, is downright infuriating. While she found success this way, American immigrants from all over the world — especially immigrants of color — are constantly ostracized and marginalized, ridiculed and given fewer opportunities, all for not having “perfect” English. It’s a great source of shame for so many who bend over backward to try to find a place in a society that still largely rejects them.

The decades-old rejection of foreign accents is so widespread and traumatizing that entire generations of children were never taught their native languages by their immigrant parents so that their offspring wouldn’t have the accent they struggled with, the accent that made their life more difficult every single day. These parents were robbed of sharing their beautiful cultures with their children just so they wouldn’t go through the pain of being made fun of and “othered” like they were.

It doesn't.

Hilaria's fakery is ridiculous and laughable, but the internet's need to turn this into some sort of social justice violation is eyeroll worthy. She's a white woman who pretended to be a white woman with a more exotic background.

That’s what I was thinking. It’s not like a white woman pretending to be Black or Latina like Rachel Dolezal and Jessica Krug. And she’s not in any position of authority. Other than looking foolish what harm has she done?

This story from People explains exactly how this woman feels harmed by Hillary's actions:

https://people.com/tv/why-the-hilaria-baldwin-scandal-isnt-funny-its-painful-for-millions-of-immigrants-including-me/

This is just horseshit. My grandparents spoke Spanish, had limited educational opportunities, and never fully learned English. My mother was able to graduate from college, come to the DMV when MoCo was recruiting potential teachers, and ultimately moved her parents and siblings here. My point is that these mawkish articles about “erasure” (love the band!) are desperado beyond language. Hilaría hurt her dumbfock anger-problem DH, and herself, and her small kids. The rest of you, please show me on the doll where she hurt you. GTFOH.

Oy vey the fake victimhood crap is a bridge too far for me. No country in the world does more for immigrants than the U.S. We treat immigrants so well, Hillary is a rich white WASP who decided to cosplay as an immigrant to boost her career. Hillary recognized the very real incentives to be perceived as a foreigner in the U.S.
