Two of my kids played SYA house league in the fall and it was absolutely terribly run and disorganized. Worst rec league experience ever for both ages. And extremely expensive ($250!) for what you get.

Whoa! They charge $250 for rec soccer?!? I know its been a while since we were a rec family but that seems high for an 8 week season with a volunteer coach.

Yes, they charge $250 then you have to spend $50 on 2 (!) jerseys, then you have to iron on the number yourself! For rec soccer! There were only 7 games and no tournament. Also the practice fields were garbage.

SYA sounds like a worse experience than CYA rec for sure. CYA is cheaper and the fields are generally nice. If you get a good parent coach who kind of ignores CYA’s suggested practice plans and does their own thing, the team can make some good improvements.

Valor’s problem is lack of a vision or philosophy in how to develop kids as they move from rec to travel, and very uneven quality of coaching.

SYA preValor was solid. Unfortunately all good coaches to include rec are gone

Are they ever going to announce the coaches? Announcing the first team coaches weeks ago and then nothing for sure reinforces the impression that they son't care about their lower teams.
