| The previous owners had painted the room in blue, which actually looked good but I removed a section with wallpaper so I had to repaint it, so I repainted it a very light beige. I don't like that the blinds are black but they're very high quality custom fabric blinds so I am going to try to keep them. I have literally nothing in this room, just a King size mattress. It's a very big master suite and could look very nice. I usually have a lot of ideas but the blinds are sort of throwing me for a loop. I don't know what kind of bedding to get, what kind of furniture, etc. |
| I'm an interior designer and I can't imagine any scenario where I would do black blinds. Ever. |
| If you really want to keep the blinds, I'd do a black and white room. Paint the walls a bright white. Get geometric or other bold black and white patterns. Make as much as you can white -- white sheets, white throw rug, white lamps, etc. |
Yes! And then have a couple of pops of bright color like turquoise throw pillows or colorful artwork. |
| go to Pinterest and type "black blinds" in the search box. Several pins came up with really nice bedrooms. They were just like 12:06 described: all white. |
| Go to houzz.com and put in "black blinds". You will get 81,000 hits. Lots of black and white, but some beige and black (where beige kind of subs in for the white). Some zebra printy stuff. |
| Black furniture, comforter and accessories in jewel tones like plums, greens |
This is Op. Thanks for the suggestions pps! Here is what these blinds look like:
They are very nice aside from the color, and very good if you like to sleep in the dark! I sort of wish I had chosen a darker beige like this room. |
I love those blinds. |
| Thank you! They're really nice, right? And they seem expensive to me, and I am very cheap. That's why I'm trying to keep them! |
| The "blinds" in your master are roman shades and you are corect op, they are big $$$. The color in the photo is Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter. Natural tones would look great. Try something like this for bedding: http://www.westelm.com/products/organic-chevron-duvet-shams-g379/?pkey=cduvet-covers&cm_src=duvet-covers||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_--_- |
| Honestly if you don't like them I would change them. No need to buy a bunch of stuff to go with shades you don't like. You will probably always feel not quite right about them. Can they go in another room where they fit the decor better? |
| I would take then out and install plantation shutters |
In white |
Nope, I'm not going to do that. I've already indicated that I plan on keeping them. I'm not in love with the idea of black shades but I'm not the type of person who is always going to be bothered by the idea that I didn't have "my" thing. |
