MCPS getting ready to spring boundary changes

Anonymous
I've been hearing rumors that the BOE and MCPS are getting ready for massive boundary changes. The rumors, the strange COSA denials, modernization delays, and the latest immersion/BCC stuff have me wondering if this is all playing into the boundary change plans.

What kind of rumors?

Really? At the HS level too? I don't want to lose Whitman status.

I do not believe this.

Please, Jesus, let my kids be reassigned!

OP, are you one of the sources of the rumors?

And don't boundary changes usually involve long drawn out procedures and analyses and charts and demographers and public debate that cannot possibly be characterized as "springing"? So if you mean, maybe some boundaries will shift 5 years down the road after we cut through gobs of red tape, I suppose anything is possible.

If that were true updating how COSAs are handled would be a waste of time.

I seriously doubt it but I will be watching gleefully if people's $300K housing premiums go poof. I guess it always bothered me that they were willing to spend so much money to stay away from my more middle-income kids.

It is a long process and can't just happen overnight. Lots of info here

Most of those who post on here are those kind of people. Would they admit it? Never.

Modernization delays are likely the result of those silly little budget issues (as in, there is no money) rather than upcoming boundary changes. Why would they delay modernization based on boundaries?

The capital budget, which pays for new schools and renovations, is fine. It's the operating budget that has no money.

I understand that Whitman boundary will be chopped up to bring more diversity to the school.
