1. to buy 42 canvas' from the art supply store that I will surely never use-- all because I was inspired
2. stay up all night finishing some "totally awesome" craft for 26 of my son's classmates 3. paint chalk board paint all over the house ...ok You're turn! |
|
Pinterest has made me waste a colossal amount of time pinning but not doing. I have a ton of boards and a ton of followers but about the only thing I've done IRL is
-paint a dresser -start cleaning my shower with a mixture of Dawn and vinegar (which works wonderfully) -try out a few new recipes Actually now that I think about it, it's most helpful for ideas to use in my Pre-K classroom. I guess that in itself is worth it. |
|
1. Try a bunch of new recipes
2. Find some interesting and easy holiday-related crafts for my DD 3. Get some ideas for her classroom 4. Read some interesting articles or motivational blog posts |
| So fill me in on the appeal. I signed up for Pinterest and made a couple of boards, and I don't get it. How is it different from just bookmarking sites? The visual display seems very limited--like you can't swap the images around or reorder them at all. What am I missing? |
| Less impressive, because other people have caught up. |

Pinterest has...
helped me lose 20 pounds. (health and fitness) helped me organize my home. (home decor) helped me put together some amazing outfits. (Women's fashion) helped me come up with some great teaching tools to help my kids with homework and concepts that were difficult for them. (education) I have also found some great recipes and entertaining ideas. I love it! |
| I actually have found it helpful to organize ideas for remodeling my house. So one day when I'm ready to actually make some choices, I will have some visuals to show a contractor. |
|
Found idea for DH's Father's Day present on it. And mine turned out even better than what was pinned.
He won't appreciate my absolute genius. |
PP, please tell us how you lost 20lbs! That's awesome! I'm the OP and I started it to be sarcastic/humorous, but after reading everyone's positive responses, I feel bad. Because, honestly I do love Pinterest. I've gotten some awesome ideas for home decor and fun things to do with my kids. |
| I have pinned some great classroom ideas for decorating, etc. I've actually used a few of them and everyone comments on them. It makes me look good but I always tell people the idea was from Pinterest. |
|
I've actually gotten some really good cleaning and organizing ideas that I've put into practice, and also some new recipes.
But I have pinned way, WAY more things than I have used. |
I started eating "clean" after I saw all the delicious recipes in the health and fitness forum. Two of my favorite websites are skinny mom and skinny taste. They have quick and easy recipes that my whole family will eat, and they are made with simple ingredients that you can find anywhere. I also love the motivational quotes, and exercise plans. |
|
-helped me come up with ideas for my bathroom reno
-find crochet patterns -let me organize recipe ideas -given me loads of food porn (because it looks good but I am never gonna make most of that shit, lets be real) -given me lots of make up tips and hair ideas -given me a place to stick all the awesome geeky shit I come across on the interwebs -shown me that I am far, far from alone in my Tom Hiddleston Obsession |

Ugh. Pinterest and I have a love-hate relationship and I can understand why they say so many women have had to go on Prozac because of it. I have to take myself off of it when I read too many of the anything you can do I can do better bloggy mom sites.
It has been great for party ideas, kids projects, recipes, home decorating BUT I hate the competitive nature it's instilled. Sometimes, it's worth the laugh though. I've seen the Pinterest mom who was doing the Olympics obstacle course for 12-18 month olds and it was hilarious to watch these mom's trying to get these kids to do the events. It was like herding cats! |
| Pinterest showed me a new way to cook hard boiled eggs, by not boiling them! Just put them in the oven and bake them. They come out great. |
