Do high school students give teacher gifts?

Do students in high school give end of the year gifts to their teachers? If yes, what do they normally give since there may be 7 or more teachers?
Anonymous
Only the ones they become close with and truly like.

I give 7 $15 starbucks cards with a personalized note. I know its not a lot, but its what I can afford and I include a note that I hope they can use it for a drink to cool off from summer.

Yes, frequently. Not expected, but surely appreciated.

As a high school teacher, I rarely received gifts. From time to time a student would make cookies around the holidays (all holidays b/c our school was so divers), or I'd get a gift card to Starbucks. Cards were given out the most.

We don't expect anything b/c there are so many of us. We have about 120 staff members in the classroom.

19:18, you're quite generous, however.

I think it's pretty creepy to give a high school teacher a gift. Just seems wrong...

How is it creepy?

There are literally plenty of teachers who do save lives - no exaggeration there.

creepy? really?

Who are you? some high school kid too cheap to kick in a few bucks for a thank you?

I can't see a 16 year old giving a gift card or baking cookies for a teacher. Sorry.

Good, then don't look when I receive a gift card or delicious cookies from my thoughtful high schoolers.

Gift giving has gone overboard. I don't understand the driving force behind all of it

This is their own relationship. If the student had this idea on their own, chances are it would be a gift that they had a particular reason to give that teacher- and it would be one you couldn't anticipate. If you wanted to suggest they write a note of thanks to favorite teachers (sent after final grades are out), that's nice. I'm not sure a teen will do it. Students do love to come back and visit their old favorite teachers. Teachers know this means they were well liked and important to the student. This is the more ordinary expression of thanks.
