Do high school students give teacher gifts?

Anonymous
As a high school teacher, gifts are only meaningful if they come from a student that has really helped I helped/ supported them in some way or a parent who feels the same way. Basically it should be personal and meaningful. A note is probably the most appreciated.

Token gifts that have generic 'thanks' generally get forgotten quickly.

My 16-year-old DS has given two gifts in the past two years - one to his tenth grade advisor, who really understood him and helped him make some good decisions, and one to the head of the language department, who played a similar role. Both times he chose the gift, based on what he knew about each teacher, and bought and presented it himself. Other than that, no gifts at this level.

A few of my worldly girl friends way back in the day gave "gifts" to certain teachers....oh, wait, you don't meant those kinds of gifts. Never mind.

Oh my goodness! What's wrong with showing a little appreciation? One teenager can be quite difficult let alone 70 plus that the average high school teacher must teach. Geez, creepy? Really? How about walking in the teachers' shoes for one day? Can you say scary?

Reward all you want... They've earned it!!
