salary range question

What is your experience with this scenario?
I'm looking at a position that has a salary range comprised of the minimum and midpoint of a certain level....eg: 50,000-55,000 is the range but the level's maximum is 60,000. Can the hiring manager hire above the posted range? Is there usually flexibility in this situation or not? Say the hiring manager really wants to hire you...
Thanks in advance....

There's usually some leeway. Sometimes they can give you something like extra vacation easier than they can give you a higher salary.

How much higher? Say, $62k? or more like 68+? I'd say if it's less than 5% over the range, you might have a shot. More than that and I think it would be other benefits that you could negotiate.

Totally depends though, they could have a max budget for the position or have to keep you relatively on par with others in the organization.

OP here. To PP, I meant to say I would still stay in the range of 50,000-60,000 but the job posted was at 50,000-55,000. These are all hypothetical numbers of course. But I wanted to see if they could go to say 59,000.
