💯. There will be multiple accidents.

The poor bus drivers….I was skidding in our neighborhood going 5 mph in an SUV. I cannot imagine how the bus will navigate.

Your neighborhood is an outlier at this point.

Most of 22101 is a mess. Too bad FCPS can’t close by regions.

This. Even streets leading to schools are a mess. Too bad FCPS and VDOT cannot coordinate and decide to create these issues for people.

My sophomore has 4 AP classes and I have no doubt they will PILE on the work. They were already supposed to have a midnight assignment for Friday (also the Friday night through Sunday night assignments are gross and need to stop).

What 4 AP classes is your sophomore taking? Our HS counselor told us 10th graders can only take AP World.

World. BC. CS A. Seminar. I know another sophomore with 5 (also has stats). I don’t care about the test - these kids will ace them. I am more concerned about actual grades because they will get an entire week’s assignments in each of these classes tomorrow. What is a day to make up? Sometimes it’s a calendar day and the classes have things due on the weekends so they could get stuck with zeros if they don’t go. And no, I am not kidding or exaggerating. Already had an issue with something being due the next day after being out with strep.

I acknowledge that each family's circumstances are distinct, and parents may hold different preferences and priorities regarding snow day policies. To ensure that any feedback I plan to provide to the school board accurately reflects the views of the broader parent community, I have created this survey to gather your opinions.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfTbRFK77Yku3DPKLEJNQcutHREC3ZIESCJ9pUjm9wyFeCZtQ/viewform

Your input is invaluable, and I hope this initiative can facilitate meaningful dialogue with the school board to ensure our children's needs are better met during snow days.

Thank you!

Just a random google form??

I, as a parent prepared it. You are right, it’s not an official questionnaire issued by any organization or government.

Creepy and weird.

Any chance we will pivot to closed by 6 am?

This is a last message:

"
I recognize that it will be some time before every roadway, sidewalk, and bus stop are completely clear, so please make the decision that is best for your family.

Stay Safe.
"

It's rather vague, so feel free to interpret it however you want. I am guessing kids unable to show up will get excused absence, and also won't be penalized with extra work or missed assignments or important instruction. But that's what I want to hear. What teachers decide to do is up to them.

What a joke. Schools should be closed.

Yup. To keep us from doing it. Haha

Teachers aren’t happy about this call.

I’m just surprised. A lot of stress and worry for a short amount of time.

Let's be clear, many of us, Parents aren't happy about this either. Not sure what those who are happy and insisted on this weird one day before the weekend are hoping to gain.

This sounds oddly like “we’re educators, we want to be back in school too…when it’s safe”.

you mean it sounds like a sane person with a firm grasp on reality? i agree.

Oh you missed the memo. That was deemed “sane” 5 years ago. Now, just cooky.

Don’t use words you can’t spell. It doesn’t make you sound intelligent.

FCPS doesn’t need to keep the economy moving. Sounds like you could have used a few less snow days when you were in school!!! But those of us who didn’t have mommy and daddy buy our houses for us actually work for a living. And are expected to show up. We can’t live in this “I’m afraid to go pick up my instacart order from the front porch because it might be slick”.

But at least if you fall, it can’t hurt but so bad being that soft.

Bet you thought you sounded so cool and superior typing that last sentence, instead of pathetic.

You were wrong.

That won’t be happening. At best, with so many students out, it’ll be review. I guess if your kids are behind, it’ll be good for them. Insert multiple exclamation points here.

The businesses remained open except for the public school. Teachers and school administrators do not take school buses to get to work. It is unfair for parents who do not have other options like working from home.

Irrelevant.

Anonymous wrote:The bus drivers are in a terrible position. So many routes are ICE. Not snow-ICE. The fedex truck got stuck on my street this afternoon in Burke on the ice. It’s going to be a mess. I can’t even think of the walkers who have to walk on a busy road to get to school. It’s so dangerous. Completely unsafe. I’m horrified FCPS made this decision. Any parent or decision maker who isn’t worried about the kids is not thinking clearly. The risk is way too high here.

Then stay home. Your horror solved.

You’re SO sick of your kids. It drips from every attempted pithy reply. You should work on that.

Prepare to be disappointed.

No. If you think it’s learning new material, you’re the one who’ll be “disappointed.”
