If they want to fix a problem they are not fixing a problem.

Being fair parents holding back kids so they can be dominate in sports is cheating and a choice that parents have made. (to cheat) This is not a leagues issue.

You can get the same results pumping your of age kid with steroids.

It doesn't make sense to you because you are a cheater.

You want a way to play down for wins against younger players.

This is what you want...

We send our kids to private school and they we not ready for kindergarten one had behavior issues and the other one had to be held back due to not being in the sme grade as her brother. It helps out in the sports world but that wasn’t the deciding factor. These kids are still going to have the upper hand if they are playing with older kids and in the grade below when it comes down to scouting.

My problem is that it doesn’t fix the problem and the trend is a lot of 5 year old kids are not ready for kindergarten in private schools

Let's say you have 10 kids, and they are very hungry. You have the option to feed 9 of them. Do you do it, or do you say, "One kid will still be hungry, so why bother?" Now, imagine that one kid who is still hungry is only remaining hungry because he decided for himself to go on a hunger strike. Do you still say, "What's the point in feeding them, someone is still hungry?"

I'm sorry your kid is stupid.

This doesn't mean they get to play down against kids a year younger in competitive soccer.

What is all this playing up playing down nonsense. An October 2012 6th grader is not playing up when the age group is 1/1/2012-12/31/2012. Just like a Sept 2012 7th grader playing in an age group from 8/1/2012-7/31/2013 wont be playing down. Both examples are playing in their age group regardless of what grade they are in. Redshirting your kid is not going to make a difference in club soccer only in HS soccer.

At least you're admitting that your kid is stupid.

Most private school people try to hide behind other BS reguarding why their kid was held back. Sorry, "regraded" which to me sounds a lot like re-tard-ed.

THIS IS A STUPID POST, STOP TALKING ABOUT BIRTH YEAR...GET A LIFE

My kiddos will be fine either way but the only issue I have is the problem isn’t fixed and if the trend is private school students are starting school older with cut offs in June and July the soccer boards are now needing to address another problem

Nobody is talking about BY.

You are trying to slip GY into SY.

Not sure private school kids are the fertile grounds of soccer talent that you think it is.

GY private school and home school parents trying to sneak their year older redshirt kids into SY is exactly what the BY people said would happen.

Nationally, 10 percent of kids go to private school and about 20 percent are born in jUne and July. So this could be an issue for 2 percent of kids. Today, it is an issue (not playing soccer in your grade) for around 30-35 percent of kids. Your future issue is trivial in comparison to the current problem.
