s/o Carribean on less than 1K

Anonymous
My husband and I just had a baby six months ago and are ready to start planning an actual long weekend (3-4 nights) away around Thanksgiving (after hurricane season.) We'll leave the baby with the grandparents and just need somewhere with an easy, direct flight, a beach, and preferably something with a romantic feel, and preferably non-cheesy (e.g. no all inclusives). Not looking to break the budget so am thinking Caribbean or Florida. Any suggestions?

Tampa is nice - stay on the beach in a condo.

How about Sanibel or Captiva, FL? Or maybe Fort Lauderdale?

Maybe you could get a job as nannies for the $40K guys.

Negril, Jamaica.

Super romantic, beautiful beaches, unbelievable sunsets and it's just pure paradise. Forget the all inclusives. There's a lovely boutique resort called Country Country and it would be perfect for a romantic getaway.

Maybe PR but I wouldn't be so quick to write off all AIs as cheesy.

Check Groupon; they have some great deals with airfare to the Caribbean. I saw two for Negril resorts that looked good.

Years ago I stayed at the Charela Inn at Negril and it was cute, romantic and not too expensive.

If you are really looking to spend less that $1,000, you might want to check out the camp grounds on St. Johns - Cinnamon Bay or Maho bay. They are very nice and St. John's is beautiful.

Airfare to Caribbean destinations in November will eat up most, if not all, of your 1k budget.

Good idea, although I don't think you can get to St. Johns easily for a 3-4 day trip.

At one point there were less expensive places to stay off PR, on Culebra and Vieques but I think Vieques at least has gotten more popular/expensive and it also wouldn't be nonstop.

We are checking out Country Country and the campgrounds at Maho bay. They both seem good!
