Travis and Taylor

I do like that song.

I'm thinking the Travis breakup song is coming.

The art for the new album is GOOD

Disagree, that photo feels generic to me. Sepia toned thirst trap? Not exactly inspired.

ITA, just so normal, and doesn't fit the title at all.

Do you think the lead single from her new album is already planned? A breakup song about her and Travis? Do you think their break up is planned already?

It sounds more like she’s mocking her ex, Joe Alwyn in the title of her new album. He had the “tortured man club” group chat. So any break up songs will probably be about him.

So on Taylor's historic Grammy night, her boyfriend offers support by "liking" an IG photo of her? Underwhelming.

Ha! I was also confused so I looked it up. I'll do my best.

Joe Alwyn, Taylor's ex-bf of 6 years, has a group chat with Paul Mescal that they have called the "Tortured Man Club." It's a reference to the fact that they have both starred in shows based on Sally Rooney novels, where the characters are kind of emotionally tortured. Apparently Andrew Scott actually started the chat after doing a spoof video with Mescal called "Normal People Confessions" in which Scott played his "hot priest" character from Flea Bag offering confession rites to Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones as their Normal People characters.

The whole thing strikes me as very weird because it is NOT a catchy album title (though it's a funny group chat name). It also feels like a weird thing to reference or poke at because it does't have anything to do with Taylor? Like the "tortured man" reference isn't about Joe's relationship with her, it's a reference to his character in a TV show. And Alwyn didn't even start the chat or name it?

Basically it feels like Taylor's album can't NOT be referencing this chat because it's such a specific framing. But also it feels like she's calling herself a "tortured poet" in a straightforward way, whereas Alwyn's chat name was clearly tongue in cheek?

It strikes me as very dumb, TBH. Perhaps I am too old to get it.

So to this middle aged mom: another album that shades an ex in cruel ways.

Yet me add this detail too. Paul mescal was engaged to Taylor's bff phoebe bridgers. They had terrible breakup as well. I 100% think indirectly referencing the chat but I don't think it has deep meaning.

yup! I feel bad for Joe. He hasn't said one word about her. I don't think he was built for Taylor's level of fame and that's okay. Their relationship during covid was different. I didn't believe she was trying to get back at him with Travis and Matty but I definitely do now.

I agree. For as much public support as she's shown him, how about a little tweet or instagram congrats or something?

They don't post about each other. He talks about her in his press conferences and interviews when asked and also on his weekly podcast.

She shows up to his games.
