Help. Please recommend me a good "Airbrush" foundation and powder.

Any recs would be greatly appreciated.

Preferable something oil-free and water based if possible.
Something drug store, but can buy at a dept. store if the product is extraordinarily great at covering imperfections. Prefer something not too cakey and photofinished results.

Thx.

I haven't tried it, but there's Revlon's Photoready foundation. CVS and Target will let you return if it doesn't work out.

I've tried the Revlon Photoready stuff and didn't like it. It looked cakier than any other I've tried!

I like L'Oreal's BB cream, but I think this will be a trial and error thing for you.

However, I think airbrushed foundation is only applied by...airbrush.

Please listen closely.

Foundation is not meant to cover every single imperfection. When people try to make foundation do that, you WILL look like you're wearing a mask. Only drag queens use foundation this way. Also stage makeup is used this way.

Foundation is used to even out the look of your face. Say you have some brown sun spots on your cheeks or slight pigmentation by your mouth. You would use some foundation to even it out in those areas. The foundation our moms used is very thick and would be applied all over like a mask. Modern foundation is thin and watery and you only apply it where you need it.

I am not sure what imperfections you have. Here is my advice for what it's worth.

The foundation I use (via trial and error) is Chanels VITALUMIÈRE AQUA. Sorry for the caps. I use it over my cheeks, nose to hide pores, and chin. I do not put it anywhere else and it seriously melts into my skin. And yes, it is EXPENSIVE. But I think as something I put on my skin every day, it is worth it. I apply this with my fingers mostly. This cost $45.

Then I use light reflecting concealer for my undereye circles and the bit of redness I get under my nose in the spring from blowing my nose so much. I use Revlon Colorstay Under Eye Concealer for this. You can use a simple elf brush or fingers for this. I got mine at Sephora. The concealer costs about $9.

I then use Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage with a concealer brush to conceal actual pimples and things. This cost about $25 for the concealer and $5 for the brush (the best brush is $28 Kevyn Aucoin, I use $5 Elf Professional via drugstore.com). This is ABSOLUTELY worth it.

I finish this off with loose powder from Chanel. Probably you can get the same results from a drugstore brand, but this loose powder is amazing. It feels like Paris in a lovely container. And honestly, my face does look pretty perfect at this point (and no, it's not remotely perfect without makeup).

I think you would do well to invest in some blush. I've recently gotten very into a liquid blush from Makeupforever which cost about $25 from Sephora. It's lovely, long lasting, lasts forever(you need a tiny drop), and looks natural. Blush will brighten your face if it's dull. I am so tired from everything if I don't wear blush people ask if I am okay.

Also curl your eyelashes and put on mascara (drugstore brand is fine)! Thread your eyebrows and you'll look years younger.

Lipstick or lipgloss will make you look more put together.

But seriously, don't buy one product and expect it to cover your (probably minor) imperfections. You don't want to look like a drag queen. Let your natural beauty show.

PP here. One more thing.

You really can't underestimate the value of having a good skin care regimen either.

I use bioderma to remove eye makeup. Then, I wash my face every night (not morning, no need) with gentle cleanser and a sephora brand Precision Pore Cleansing Pad. This was a $5 tool that I swear has washed my gross clogged pores clean. I am not going to waste money on a clarisonic when this offers almost the same result (and is probably gentler on my skin anyway)!

Once a week I do a mask with Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant.

I moisturize with jojoba oil ($7 at trader joes) or weleda wild rose moisture cream.

If I wasn't breastfeeding I would use Retin A.

And every single day without fail I use sunblock, spf 50 or higher. I just use Neutrogena for this.

I think that people often sleep in their makeup, use too many harsh chemicals, or use too much hot water on their faces and then wonder why their face is so oily, wrinkly, and sun-damaged.

Best of luck.

Any recommendation for an "air brush" product that might be used on legs? I'm in a wedding this weekend with a short dress and am day glow white. Not dedicated or brave enough to use self tanning lotion but thought some tinted cream would work if there are any products out there?

I've never used this but I hear good things.

Supposedly the best coverage is M·A·C Face & Body Foundation (per Lisa Eldridge). http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/mac-face-body-foundation/3374828?cm_cat=datafeed&cm_ite=m.a.c_face_&_body_foundation:606334&cm_pla=makeup:women:foundation&cm_ven=Google_Product_Ads&mr:referralID=34982055-b803-11e2-a969-001b2166c2c0

13:02, I wish we were friends! I could use a little "in-my-face" push to do what you are recommending overall. I wish I had a friend like you to shop for this stuff with.

I totally agree that foundation is to even out your face. My skin is very very fair and I only use it where I have red splotches. I've never had a "line" at my jawline either.

I am so touched. Thanks. I just love makeup so much, and it is way more fun than my job.

Lisa Eldridge really taught me everything (well my mom too). Here is the link:

Enjoy!!!

+1 Lisa Eldridge.

Thanks to whoever first recommended her foundation academy series of videos on this forum. I picked up Revlon's ColorStay on a CVS run thanks to her recommendation and I feel like a different person. I want to try out Clairins and Clinique's foundations as well, but I'm so happy with the way ColorStay looks I'm in no rush.

13:59 again. Here's a video of Lisa going over how to cover pretty heavy acne scarring.

That was me. I feel like all I say on this forum is try Chanel foundation, thread your brows, and watch Lisa Eldridge! I probably need to get a new job, haha.

Well bless you. I hadn't worn a liquid foundation in 12 years because I couldn't find one that didn't turn to soup on my face in the summer humidity.

Someone could definitely have a side job as an interwebs beauty maven. Jeff should give your own corner from which to hold forth.

I had good luck with the Laura mercier flawless face kit from sephora. Includes the tinted moisturizer and secret camouflage and some other things.
