Anyone flown Emirates?

Where are you heading? If its Seoul, United Business Class is just fine. Ask to sit upstairs ind the 747. Very civilized.

I was in economy class in 2007 and I LOVED it. Very comfy seats, nice food, tons of movies and tv shows.

Emirates over United any day!

I flew business class. Very good, though not as good as BA. Much better than United.

Emirates is tons and tons better than United - or any other U.S. carrier. I find they are great with kids - service is really top notch.

We flew Economy on Emirates NY to Dubai and I was very happy with it. Would prefer it to United any day.

I flew emirates with my 2.5 yo DS a few months ago. Our route was IAD-Dubai-Delhi. I found them really good - good in flight entertainment, decent food, mostly friendly staff. They also have free strollers in the Dubai airport, which would have been great if DS would have sat in them. Tickets were also really cheap, so overall I was happy and I'd fly with them again.

Dubai is a hell-hole. But it is a good airline.

You should demand to be upgraded while leaving the children in economy. Then you could truly appreciate the flight.

penguinsix wrote:We are flying Hong Kong back to Washington for a few weeks of vacation. Options are:

HKG-Dubai-IAD (Emirates)
HKG-Seoul-IAD (KAL)
HKG-Narita-O'Hare-IAD (UAL)
HKG-Paris-IAD (AF)
HKG-London-IAD (BA)

While I'd love business on this flight, it's a personal trip and I've got six passengers so it's business class vs. say buying a new car

Of the options, KAL and Emirates are basically the same price when you factor in taxes. All the flights list the same ticket price, but when you add up the taxes it gets a bit insane. Routing through Paris would add nearly $4,500 USD in taxes and fees and routing through London would add almost $6,000 in taxes and fees. UAL would have a domestic leg and the agents are telling us we might get hit with some baggage fees at some point in the game. Plus the fact United sucks.

Glad to hear people like Emirates. We were planning to stopover in Dubai for a few days and explore, but changed our mind after reading the temperature is about 115f and our trip falls in the middle of Ramadan, which would mean a few restrictions on tourists and some places might be closed during the day.

You could always visit the mall that has a ski slope inside lol. Or one of the many other thousands of air-conditioned malls the desperate residents retreat to. Dubai is probably one of my least favorite places in the world.

Korean is great too! And Emirates is definitely better than United!

I like how they conveniently dropped the name Arab from Emirates.

Emirates is the airline, UAE is the country. Did United conveniently drop the name "States of America" from their name?

I love Korean Air, I haven't tried Emirates but heard they are excellent. United, even usiness class sucks big time.
