I grieve for any woman who relies on the teachings of Jen or Sarah. They are active destroyers of faith. Wolves in sheep’s clothing. And, to make it even worse, they’re going to charge you for it. And you are going to pay.

The conservative churches that stick close to the word are exploding in my area as well.

I know so many folks who have converted to Catholicism or have joined the Orthodox church in the past few years. The Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod school near us has a waitlist and the church there is growing steadily. Lots of kids and adults being baptized.

What many like about the more conservative churches/denominations is the orderly liturgy. God is a God of order, not chaos and confusion. When I visit non-denom churches, I feel the pastors are allowed to just preach away and kind of meander. I love a good sermon, but there should be some order to the service.

I can't imagine attending a church that Brandon or Tray preached at. They don't seem to have the gift of preaching.

They’re have always been progressive and liberal churches. I remember seeing Unitarian churches are wondering what they were. These progressive churches are just this generations Unitarian church. There’s nothing new under the sun.

Grandiose belief in one’s infallibility has been Jen’s MO with several of her progressive revelations. She speaks with a certainty that terrifies me as i sense no fear of God.
Maybe having a dad who always told her whatever she did was amazing fed into this arrogance?

I can still see Tina's profile. but I'm IG friends with her. I sent her a friend request a few weeks back out of morbid curiosity

The most offensive part of Jen’s new me course is the idea only enlightened people are deconstructing their faith. They have risen above the din of clanging clergy and sought the higher truths. Seriously? The hubris of this concept defies all reason. People have been studying the word and church history for millennia but now you have an ah-ha that somehow all these ancestors missed.
By all means Jen search, consult experts, pray to find the answers but do not pretend you are enlightened for questioning. The faithful seekers have been showing up and they aren’t all coming to your same conclusions.

Yes, this. And please Nadia Bolz-Weber, either repent or just call yourself a UU and call it a day. Stop dragging your fake Jesus in the mud.

Jen and Beth Moore have that screech owl certainty that sure ain't from the Lord. John MacArthur was correct and loving to tell Beth to shut up.

For sure many people, particularly young people, are seeking the more conservative, liturgical churches. We have been lcms Lutherans for 10+ years now and have never been more at peace. There are so many problems with the deconstructionists (and this coming from a Lutheran haha) but here are some notable ones-
1) Be careful if your new doctrine causes a sudden abandonment of lifelong ethical
and/or behavioral standards. The all of a sudden, frequent spewing of 4 letter words, overnights with boyfriends, and silly flaunting of privilege like trespassing make you seem like a goofy teen on school holiday more than someone who has thrown themselves into sincere theological study and prayer.
2) If a change or evolution in a tenet of your faith seems to result in you seeming to trash the whole thing, what was your faith based on?
3) Do you handle your new outlook with a spirit of humility, realizing that we can all be wrong sometimes? Do you believe that in the end, it is we who will need to agree with God and not the other way around?

I also think it should be said that not all women over 40 want to have a "tribe" or wear giant hats. Friendships are great and important, even for introverts, but Jens group has always seemed more like a mean girl clique to me. There is nothing about her that evokes a welcoming kind of friendliness. The whole thing just seems off.

How can you even compare Jen and Beth?! And John McArthur was so condescending and pious when he made that statement. Gross!

Nah, Sis. Loving is making a private phone call when he’s genuinely concerned about someone. Not strutting for the applause and laughs from the boys club he surrounds himself with. That was the opposite of love. But also, can we take all this over to the religion forum and get back to Jen’s personal life?!

There is an overall decrease in church membership. You may have to zoom out of the Bible Belt to get the full picture. Organized Christianity is dying. In 2020, 47% of Americans were identified as being members of a church. A good chunk of that 47% is as corrupt as homemade sin—clutching to their Trump autographed Bibles. The whole American version of Christianity has been reconstructed around politics, and not the other way around. It’s disingenuous to have a deconstruction conversation without recognizing that the church has shifted, seismically so, to be Christian nationalist. I don’t look to Jen for spiritual guidance, but I appreciate her voice in the conversation. Many people are leaving the faith altogether. Statically, many of us reading this will have children who become atheists. The American version of Christianity is not sustainable. Not because, “many are called and few are chosen,” but because we’ve used the Lord’s name in vain by politicizing all that is holy. Faith and politics aren’t unrelated, but faith that shifts for political gain is not the church’s best witness. What is viewed as conservative today, was at some point liberal. The Lutheran church, for example, 1st ordained women in 1970. So much of what’s being said about Jen, Sarah, Nadia, and Beth was being said about the liberal Lutheran’s back then. Fun fact from this old lady, I was raised to believe that Lutherans were going to hell because the woman led prayers and the acceptance of drinking alcohol. Times change. Jesus doesn’t. That takes a lot more reckoning than some of you are willing to face.

Like the pp said above, can we please take these boring comments somewhere else and stop clogging up the forum with long winded opinions that have nothing to do with whether or not Jen had a tummy tuck?

Geesh hasn’t Beth Moore taken heat for sticking to the Bible? I watched that video of MacArthur mocking Beth Moore and then all those southern Baptist leaders laughing in awkward agreement. It grieved the Spirit, and made me cry for all the godly Bible teachers watching her be dishonored so publicly. No doubt such cruelty has fueled some of Jen’s doubts and departure from conservative Christianity. But dang it Jen don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Stick to the Word upon which everything was built.
