How to I get my boss to stop gossiping about me

Without losing my job? She has gossiped about my personal life on matters I have shared with her only as a subordinate. We are not friends. I would never tell her things about my personal life outside of what is required for my position.

+1 It's unprofessional for a supervisor to gossip about their employees. Had a boss who told me about other employees. I was careful not to tell him too much because I figured he probably talked about me to other co-workers, too.

PP again. Wanted to also add that that same boss would ask questions he should not have to get personal information while pretending it was part of the conversation.

Exactly what is your boss saying? I don't know of any requirement to tell your boss anything personal. Please give examples OP.

tell your boss directly that you are uncomfortable because you'v heard personal information being discussed in the company/organization and you are not sure how it could have gotten out. or, go to HR and DOCUMENT in writing your concerns if you can prove it was your boss. This way she can't retaliate against you.

Is it gossip or is she discussing w/HR, her own boss, or the ethics office, inhouse counsel, etc? If someone made a complaint about discrimination to me, as the manager, I had to report it to HR and discuss with the executive manager/director, probably with a company attorney, etc. People sometimes think confidentiality means you can't discuss w/anyone but in reality management has to report certain violations, complaints about illegal activity (such as harassment) to our upper management and our HR office.
