| A lot of houses go on the market Thursday and Friday it seems, but my realtor is mostly unavailable to show us on weekends. Is this typical? |
| You need a new agent. Most houses are in contract before Monday. We just bought and that was the case for us. |
|
Ugh, that's what I was thinking
|
| Why is your agent unavailable??? It's her job to be available. Get a new agent. |
| We also had a problem like this -- our agent said she would need 72 hours notice to take us out to see houses, but of course these days buyers need to act more quickly than that in hot neighborhoods anyway. We had a "talk" with our agent and I think when she realized we were considering looking elsewhere, suddenly she was more available for us. |
| Wow these are crazy. Our agent was generally available the next morning if not the same day. And definitely on weekends! |
| Yes, new agent for sure. What kind of agent doesn't do weekends? |
| And keep in mind that on a $500k property (just for example) a buyers agent is going to make $15k. Just to give you some perspective of WHY she should be available. |
| That's ridiculous. We have a great, patient agent who has, on multiple occasions, taken us to see things same day. Of course, in this market, she has to! |
How do you figure? I get $7,500. Figure 1/2 of 3 percent... That's the structure. |
| Our agent was unavailable for evening showings. I couldn't take time off work, so we told her we would go without her. She had child care issues. We ended up seeing homes at night and she brought her kids. It didn't work well. Wish we would've switched agents. |
Wouldn't it be 3%? The buyer and seller agents split a 6% commission. |
+1 |
Who gets the other half? Your agency? My agent was pretty senior and only had to give a few hundred bucks to his agency. |
The sellers agent and the buyers agent split. The agency itself takes some too. |
