It sucks to be a paying parent when these clubs comp players their fees and split time of paying players. We are such suckers to put up with this crap. The comped players aren’t even good. Many get recruited only to get cut after a year or sooner. A few make it only to find out their team sucks. Then there’s those that make it, former stars who can’tt even pass a fit test. lol.

We have not accepted our GA offer and looking to go to another club asap. Do you know who is still doing tryouts?

Tryouts are always on. Just depends if a club sees your kid as being able to displace another.

Most clubs will keep looking at players. Email the ones that interest you.

Coaches worked with their players for the previous year or years. Unless your kid is clearly better than those the coach worked with, it is hard to convince that coach to displace that player with your kid. Your kid only has one or two one-hour sessions to prove him/herself in front of 40-60 kids AND be noticeably better than current players. It's a tall task, and if it doesn't go your way, it doesn't mean it was due to nepotism or favoritism. If your kid is that much better, no coach would pass up on selecting your kid.

Not any GA teams are actively doing tryouts still but it's still worth reaching out to the coach or TD at a club you might be interested in and see if they have spots available. Depends on the age group and what the teams needs are.

22 at a minimum. That field plus all the new gimmicks ain’t paying themselves. Plus, your club has now absorbed a failing USL-C club (Loudoun Utd) with losses in the 7 figures…
