comfortable pants to wear to work? (women)

Anonymous
Hello:

I am in sure of some comfortable pants that would be acceptable in an office environment. Ideally, these would be knit pants or even pants with elastic waistbands. I have a chronic pain problem, and the seams of most pants actually cause me pain when I am sitting down. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I don't know if they sell them anymore, but I remember a while ago seeing knit pants with elastic waists that had bootcut legs at Express. I think these kinds of pants could pass as long as the pantlegs aren't too loose and the bottoms aren't banded.

J Jill has some really nice comfortable knit pants which are dressy enough for work.

Eileen Fisher is a little pricey but has great knit pants and skirts. Often on sale at Garnet Hill.

I second this. Love the stretch crepe.

you might even consider maternity pants. I had some from mimi maternity that just had very stretchy waistbands that I wore for months after dd was born!

I remember the L.L. Bean and Land's End websites having some nice, knit pants with elastic waistbands. As a PP mentioned, J.Jill and sometimes Eddie Bauer (the website more so than the store).

Good Luck.

Try the "everyday" pant from Lucy in black. I have them in black and brown (the black also in capri length) and LOVE them. I'm not working right now, but when I was, I actually started wearing them to work with turtleneck sweaters and got compliments on them. They are so comfortable and comfy for weekend/everyday wear yet can also look good for work (particularly the black color). You'll have to go try them on in the store to believe me, but I highly recommend them - and everything else at Lucy, for that matter. Here's a link:

I really like those pants, but I wouldn't wear them to work as they have zippers at the hem which to me screams exercise clothes. Maybe it is just me.

I love my Gap maternity pants, the demi-panel ones. I'm going to keep wearing them. The panel isn't hard to keep covered with a longer shirt.

Brooks Brothers makes a blend that feels like youre wearing sweatpants. But they are dressy work slacks!!

LL Bean has "perfect fit" pants that are comfy with an elastic waist. I like the boot cut ones, but I wish they had pockets.

I would look for matte jersey pants with elastic waists. You can also find these at Chicos and JJill. If you wear them with a longish top and a drapey cardigan with a funky necklace, you will look creative professional. Also, be sure to find comfy shoes (Born makes good ones) to go with them!

Definitely try Chico's. Everything is stretchy/comfy without looking sloppy or frumpy, and there are many options that would be appropriate for an office environment.
