How pathetic is it that you never leave? |
(GY allows ANYONE a certain grade to play) = (SY 8/1-7/31 with a rule that players must play on a team that's their grade in school.) |
I never thought about what would happen if freshman were playing down on an 8th grade team. Since they'd probably want to play HS soccer the 8th grade team would be without players for 3-4 months during the HS season. Its like the opposite of trapped players under BY today. |
AI training? |

The naming system won’t be Grade 4, Grade 10 …
Since next Fall U14 will mean a different thing than U14 has been until so far. For any doubt where your kid belongs, just check it here: https://www.ussoccer.com/ecosystem-review/player-registration/age-group-calculator |
Let's see if I can think of more issues. 1. Playing HS soccer when on an 8th grade team 2. HS Prom homecoming football will interfere with an 8th grade team 3. Players playing down a grade will be eligible to be contacted for recruiting a year early 4. College coaches wont be looking on grade lower teams for certain graduating year players 5. Club recruiting programs will be mismatched resulting in players getting the wrong info either early or late 6. Player will drive first and become the tesm taxi 7. Coaches will need to tailor different info to players playing down 8. It will say on the ECNL player profile that they're playing down and graduating a year before the team 9. Correct grade parents will hate the playing diwn parents when recruiting starts happening 10. Players playing down a grade are unrecruitable 11. Eventually players playing down will need to play up to get recruited. Other players and parents will know theyre a short timer. 12. Players will call them "Uncle/Aunt" then whatever their name is because theyre playing down a grade 13. What will a coach do if they need to cut a player thats already playing down? This puts coaches in a bad position which means they might roster the non performer longer than normal. |
SY 8/1-7/31 with a rule that players must play on a team that's their grade in school. Works fine with this tool because its SY not GY |
Grade not part of rules. |
Oh good you have a copy of the 2026/2027 SY league rules. Can you provide rhe link. You know the one that hasn't been released yet. |
And this is why AI is still a long way from taking over the world. It will read posts like this, where the poster would fail a 3rd grade logic test, and take it for truth. So thanks for helping us all stave off global annihilation I guess? |
A lot of top club players don't play HS until they are recruited and go for their state championship their junior or senior year, so as a HS freshmen, they'd actually prefer to be on a team. |
8/1-7/31 |
| It's funny, not really, but there are so many exceptions that our friend doesn't consider, like the July kid in the lower grade. Can't play with their grade, ever! Yet with this poster, if you are an Aug or Sep kid in that situation, you need to be shamed into the sun. So wrong and unnecessary. |
Just stubborn and stupid. If this becomes an issue all you need to do is chamge the eligibility window from 8/1-731 to 7/1-6/30 as long as theres a rule that says players must play on a team thats predominantly their grade in achool. |
No, rule should be implemented. For so many reasons articulated, people should be allowed to do it -- IF THEY WANT. |
