They got back in late February. They flew home from a cruise. They weren’t tested until March.

It’s already here...and everywhere. People are inadvertently passing germs without realizing they’ve been exposed and are carrying it.

Worse, people who know they are sick with something respiratory are venturing out. I was a store yesterday in which at least two different people were coughing hard. I was tempted to abandon my cart, but I’d finally found an item I wanted to stock up on.

This time of year that could easily be allergies.

My allergies are ramping up right now. I know it's allergies, because it's not all day. And I'm sneezing. A lot. Sneezing is not a symptom of Coronavirus. But I occasionally cough from it too. Hitting the Claritin hard now..

Sure they may have each spread to a few people. So at this point there may be a few dozen infected and that's the most possible. It's highly unlikely we have thousands infected. We could in a couple more weeks but these exponential growth things start very slowly and really only explode later on.

Who cares if they aren’t community transmission. They flew on a plane to get here. Went through an airport. Probably went to the grocery store and CVS when they got home. They have been in contact with thousands of people. I don’t get why people aren’t concerned.

Do you all realize that these people had mild cold symptoms and have already basically recovered? Did anyone read the article? They are not on their deathbed.

This guy who had a horrible case and recovered got "better" twice during his ordeal. Did you read his first hand account of what it was like as a young, healthy person?

That guy said he didn't take the medicine the doctor prescribed for it, so we don't know how he would have done if he had taken the medication.

Mess with cruises. But a lot on the travel thread are going ho about going. Go figure.

A Hong Kong study released today estimated that the true number of cases is at least twice as many as what is being reported, simply due to lack of testing.

Community transmission is virtually guaranteed to happen in most metro areas. It's already happened in NYC and I expect it will become apparent that it's happening in the DC area soon.

That makes it worse. They didn’t feel sick enough to stay home. They were out and about spreading it.

It = a cold

Yes, a cold that required 54% of the Italians who got it to be hospitalized. The fact that these cases may be in the mild group means they had more of an opportunity to spread it. Not knowingly, not maliciously, but still. With diseases like Ebola, it kills so fast, it burns itself out. Not so with COVID-19.

Agreed. Also, people need to release that "mild" includes walking pneumonia. Ever had pneumonia? Not something to mess with.

Montgomery County schools prepare in case coronavirus requires closings

MCPS plans - What a joke! I guess they can mail off packets to kids w/o computer access.

Montgomery County, Maryland’s public school system continues normal operations, and school and health officials say they are preparing should that change.

Montgomery County Public Schools Deputy Superintendent Monifa McKnight said plans for remote instruction and hard copy lessons would be ready should schools have to close due to the coronavirus. She was repeating a message delivered in a briefing Tuesday with county officials.

I also heard that the teachers weren't told they had to be preparing these hard copy packets, so they're scrambling.

What a sh-tshow.

Poor teachers! What else can we add to their plates? Perhaps they can hand deliver the packets and provide some in-home instruction???

Yes, it is awful. The scary part is his ordeal was “mild”. Those with severe symptoms end up in the ICU.
