It seems pretty ugly that you want schools to be segregated into these two groups. |
And again the SJW makes the logical leap from nothing because he/she is obsessed with segregation. But since you asked there are plenty of hispanic and AA families who actually want to be in areas where they are in the majority. That is their choice just as it is the choice of anyone to live anywhere based on any criteria. |
| All children in this county are entitled to the same high-quality public education. This isn't limited to just those children whose parents bought in Potomac. Further, the practice of creating high-poverty schools where students do worse needs to end. |
| I think the same PP is posting as racist and the “SJW”. I got my eye on you PP! The nonsensical writing is distinctive. |
shh don't ruin the fun |
| This all seems so misguided. Is the goal to add poorer people into wealth schools just because? What exactly is the purpose and how is this going to help outcomes? |
are you proposing to eliminate over 1/3 of the population |
You believe that minorities like this idea of separate but equal? |
don't you know adding poorer black and brown people to richer white and asian areas automatically puts on a +5 intel upgrade |
No that is so outdated. They are now moving wealthy kids to poor schools. |
I guess we're past having a reasonable discussion. |
| PP - are you the guy who likes to post about desegregation in Missouri? I recognize your writing style. Why don’t you step away from the screen and get a breath of fresh air. |
Of course not I believe that most people on DCUM are trying to do what is best for their kids I also know that there are tons of minorities (and poor whites in other areas) who are actually choosing to live in areas with crappy schools. For the life of me I don't know why people do this. There are plenty of low wage jobs and lower cost of living areas in other parts of the country zoned for better schools. |
you seem sincere keep posting the goal is to close the achievement gap. You close the achievement gap by lowering scores at the top and/or increasing scores at the bottom. That's what everyone is being judged against in modern education wonk/policy/politics |
same insane principle applies though that somehow adding "higher" performing kids is going to help the "lower performing" kids that's what's so insane to me and others. The lower performing kids will still be lower performing which I think is the actual thing we should be focused on, how to improve the lower performing kids. |
