I am a teacher and have lunchroom duty. Kids at our school have to get permission to dump their tray. If they don’t eat their food, I talk to them about it. I ask them why they made those choices if they don’t like them. I encourage them to at least try their entree and if they really hate it, they shouldn’t choose it again. Usually, with a little nudging, kids will go ahead and eat. The most common answer I get when they aren’t eating is that they aren’t hungry because it’s 11:00 and they’ve had breakfast and their snack that they can bring from home and eat in class.

Lunchroom Gestapo.

My elementary school kid eats a packed lunch everyday. It’s a filling, healthy lunch. On his birthday, I allowed him to take a chocolate bar in his lunch to celebrate. He was very excited, as he does not as a rule have candy packed in his lunch.

The lunch monitor disapproved of his candy bar. In his school, the teacher does not eat with the class. Monitors patrol the cafeteria and keep order. So as he delightedly pulled his birthday candy bar from his lunch bag to eat- in swooped yes, lunch gestapo. She complained he was not eating healthily enough and told him not to bring anymore candy bars in his lunch. I actually witnessed the entire ridiculous incident, as I came in to eat lunch with him for his birthday. I asked her if desert or treats are forbidden, and she said no, but discouraged. For someone who works with kids- she was a complete bi$ch to my kid. Rude, repulsive woman. Liberals and their minions suck.

This has nothing to do with liberals or the topic being discussed. You probably should have taken it up with the principal instead of blaming Michelle and liberals.

Liberals are 100% behind normal kids having limited amounts of healthy food at lunch and paying more. Liberals won’t let normal kids eat normally- every kid has to have limited calories and portion sizes because of the kids who are overweight.

Fat free milk? DISGUSTING. You ever taste that crap? Yuck.

She is talking about an individual at the kids school not letting him have his candy bar. It’s not political. Lol.

And 850 cal is not enough for a school lunch? Give me a break. Do these athletes realize they can bring more food from home to avoid passing out? I don’t think loading them up on high calorie chips and cookies instead will help. I’m gonna watch that video just for the entertainment value.

N.J. High School Students Planning Cafeteria Boycott To Protest Obama Guidelines
Parsippany Hills Students Ask, Why Should We Pay For The Obese's Problems?

PARSIPPANY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Students at Parsippany Hills High School held a strategy session on Thursday to discuss a potential lunch strike, on Friday, over what they have called inadequately sized meals.

“This year you’re eating lunch and you’re like ‘Did I even eat?’ You’re not even full,” senior Brandon Faris told CBS 2’s Derricke Dennis.

New federal guidelines stemming from first lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign have resulted in limits on protein and bread, and an increase in vegetables and fruits. The changes have also come at an increased cost.

Members of the food service industry told CBS 2 that new federal guidelines have caused a significant shift in portion size.

“There’s a lot less turkey on the sandwich, there’s 33 percent less turkey and the size of the bread has been reduced by a third,” explained Mark Vidovich, who runs Pomptonian Food Service.

Honestly who would become obese eating a regular turkey sandwich for lunch? Why would there have to be less turkey in the sandwich?

Still...nobody can name an actual standard that’s unreasonable. Just rattling off a bunch of bad school lunch horror stories. Guess what! Bad school lunches have always been a thing. If your school has a problem with serving quality food, then take it up with them.

Less turkey is probably due to the astronomical sodium content of processed lunch meat.

Limited calorie counts for normal, growing kids.

Limited portion sizes for growing, normal kids.

Limited calorie and portion sizes for athletes and children who are not obese. Non-obese children should not have to limit their portion size of healthy foods because other children have weight or nutrition problems.

My kids (and many many others) have a family history of heart disease and diabetes. I don’t want their school feeding them 2,000 calorie lunches every day so that the football players don’t feel woozy. My kid is a student athlete. A good breakfast, school lunch, and a substantial snack or protein shake before practice was enough. Student athletes should not be relying on school lunches for the bulk of their nutrition.

The same women here ok with portion control and calorie limited lunches for normal, healthy, and athletic kids are the same ones who would cry if they were breastfeeding and their mom told them to cut back. Hypocrisy thy name is liberal.

And honestly, Michelle Obama is a healthy woman. She’s no shrinking violet nor wasp waisted WASP. The woman enjoys her food and work outs. Yet American kids get smaller turkey sandwiches- if they are lucky, judging by those pics- and no fat milk. Ridiculous!

More than you, racist sh1thead.

Lol
Everybody who can't stand her is a racist. Love the "fighting strategy" - You're a genius!!

Ok - think what your want. I don't admire her. She's accomplished nothing. And I'm free to say that she's a narcissist.

Hey, she DID accomplish something -- to inspire a revolution by students and lunch ladies vs. her BS arugula food that was generating mountains of garbage and thousands of hungry kids.

Those MAGAts at Trump rallies certainly look like they are strangers to the concepts of healthy eating.

SO...in conclusion, liberals are unhealthy and weaker as a general rule. And even though I'm a Trump supporter in the heavily liberal area of DC, I always have dates lined up. My Hinge account is constantly busy and I have to ignore some likes...Bumble is always matched up too. So looks go a long way.

Sorry, one look at a Trump rally or at all the MAGA hats on the Mall disproves your statements.

Also, PP isn’t marriage material. Ok for a one-night stand, but no one wants to marry and live with amoral scum.

I don’t need to get married, plenty of married women sleep with me anyway. It shows two things:

Good moral character is lacking in women from or living in DC.
Somewhere some guy is paying the emotional tax while I get the benefits.

Like I said, I’m a Trump supporter and sleep with ole ty of married women . I also work my butt off to live a good life Ann’s stay financially well off . This allows me travel and enjoy life with my good friends. If a woman comes along great, bit knowing what I known I won’t ever trust her. And I’m glad the women here don’t consider me marriage material. If that means you get married and she goes out and sleeps with people like my friends and I, you can keep your marriage nightmare.

You certainly sound like a prize.

I might be, that’s why I sleep with married women. I’m honestly more attached than her husband otherwise she wouldn’t be getting naked for me. Long story short no reason to ever get married. I’ll let their husbands deal with all the garbage.

Geez. My kid is as “at risk” as any other kid with a family history of heart disease and/or diabetes. Which would be a huge portion of kids. I really don’t think an 850 calorie meal is extreme portion control. It works fine for my student athlete. Maybe tour child needs to make better choices to fill the 850 calories? I love how the party of small girls v and fiscal responsibility wants the states to pay for each student to eat 2,000 per day at school so that their football player doesn’t have to pack a snack. It is not the state governments job to sustain your kid through their football practice. It is the state’s responsibility to sustain them from 8-3. They should be able to sit at a desk that long on 850 calories plus their breakfast. Good grief. No wonder American kids are obese when their parents get this worked up about them being served fruits and veggies.

No wonder American kids are obese when their parents get this worked up about them being served fruits and veggies.

It’s not my kids the state has to worry about. It’s the overweight kids who get free breakfast and lunch on the taxpayer’s dime, and then throw the food away and eats a bag of hot Cheetos for lunch.

Those kids wouldn’t eat a vegetable unless they were paid. Perhaps that should be the new obesity program: get paid to eat your free school lunch fruits and veg.

I am sure there are plentiful stats that show childhood obesity is way way way down due to the Obama lunch program? Hmmm?

Yuck.

Cons just want poor kids to go hungry. You ever taste NOTHING for lunch, day in and day out? Yuck.

Can you imagine if they were serving this slop to illegal immigrants in detention centers?

Again...say it with me this time...MICHELLE DID NOT PROVIDE THE RECIPES!

The problem is that schools figured out they can get away with this because their idiot parents will blame Michelle. Hold your schools accountable. It is not that hard to come up with a decent meal that consists of fruits, veggies, and whole grains without being loaded with sugar and salt.

Notice how all these morons are blaming Michelle instead of the school? Idiots.

I went to school in the 70s and the lunches were disgusting back then.

Mystery meat "hamburgers" on sad looking buns, just like above.
Nary a vegetable in sight. No fresh fruit, just those gross fruit cups.

School lunches have been disgusting for decades and that has absolutely nothing to do with Michelle Obama. She did try to improve them. Too bad schools are not cooperating.

I also went to school in the 70s. Never saw the abominations pictured above on any tray. You’d have Tater tots and chocolate milk and sliced peaches and a hamburger for lunch. You’d play dodgeball in PE and Red Rover at recess...nobody was fat. Except the day kid, and he honestly had bad genetics.

How many here send their children to public school here?

Where did you go to school?? You must have lived a privileged life behind a gilded bubble. The rest of us weren't so fortunate. My school lunches looked the same (actually, worse) as the lunches in those pictures.

Are these pictures of the meals that will be served at the Obama 15,000 sq ft 2nd home?
