As a guest I always clean the bathroom(s) we use. I can't imagine leaving toothpaste in the sink, soap scum on the shower door or any other mess for our host to clean up.

FILl leaves pee splatters everywhere. My husband cleans them up once they leave and it’s clear that neither FIL nor MIL care to.

I never use the guest powder room bc of this type of thing. I always use a master bath when I go to someone’s home

GTFO -- you go into someone's master bathroom when there's a guest bath provided? Wow.

Yes. I don’t like going in a powder room or hall bathroom so everyone know I’m in the bathroom and if I pooped. I need privacy. I’m discrete. I’ve hardly ever been caught by a host

But are you discreet?

I can remember going to people's houses and finding out that they had things like left overs and family style meals where you could choose how much you ate, and being amazed. In my family, my mother would buy exactly what she thought we should eat for the week. So, if we were having chicken on Tuesday she'd buy 5 chicken drumsticks, one for each family member, and 5 small rolls, and measure out exactly 5 1/2 cups of frozen vegetables. She'd boast about how her kids always cleaned their plates, but that was because we were hungry!!

I have noticed while there are lots of kids that are naturally skinny, there are some kids who i assume are naturally skinny but it is because their parents restrict their food. I have seen them sneaking food from friends at the pool. Some women do not get that kids need to eat more as they grow up.

No, some moms know that their kids don’t need to eat unhealthy fatty foods and snacks every 5 minutes after a healthy and nutritious meal.

OMG I stayed in a country house with the sheet crazy. She expected us to get up, wait for her to get up (because no touching the coffee maker) get the sheets ready, grab a bite then commence to do chores. Heavy chores. And no dinner until 10 pm. Our kids were very very hungry.
It was crazy and although We had known the husband for 20 years staying with the new wife was loony tunes. I gave it 2 tries and then no more.

Well this thread was super entertaining. Some of you guys have some really control freak relatives. My parents have some food mischegas but at least witholding food isn't one of them.

BKL you are a total frak. Just...wow.

Good God lady, you are truly off the rails.

Instead of showing an ounce of compassion or empathy for what this pp might have experienced growing up with a mother with food/control issues, you automatically go on the defensive (once again) and absolutely REFUSE to consider any other perspective other than your extreme need for control.

I truly hope you don't have children, because having an extremly controlling & domineering parent is so damaging, it will cause extreme resentment in your children. I bet you've never even considered how damaging this dynamic is to a child, because your need for control trumps everyone else's feelings.

I can't imagine what it's like to grow up in home where you're either too scared or not comfortable enough to go into the kitchen on your own.
No doubt they are always on the lookout & have to sneak snacks when you're not looking and hide the evidence of it in their rooms... sounds like a real pleasant environment.

I don't know why I'm even bothering, because getting through to you is like speaking to a stubborn, closed minded & selfish brick wall and I have nothing but compassion & empathy towards anyone who is forced to be a victim of your self serving & extreme control issues.

I have no doubt that she's also the poster who insists on showering twice a day (sometimes three times a day).

Who wants to bet that her home isn't as "lovely" as she thinks it is?

Oh, it may in fact be beautifully decorated, but it's virtually impossible to live in a home with someone with OCD/control issues, and the environment be anything close to "lovely".

Better adjectives would be stifling and toxic.
