This woman seated between two obese people is awful but so are they for not buying the extra seat.

Why did you feel compelled to share that you are Asian? Do you have a weight bias against non-Asians? Fat Asians do exist, pp.

If pp is 115 lbs and 4’11”, then she is fat. Someone under 5 feet should not weigh more than 100 lbs.

She's a bit higher than the lowest weight of normal but she's not overweight yet. So don't call her fat dumbass.

Height Normal Overweight
4' 10" 91 to 118 lbs. 119 to 142 lbs.
4' 11" 94 to 123 lbs. 124 to 147 lbs.
5' 97 to 127 lbs. 128 to 152 lbs.

She is definitely not fat but is at the higher end of normal/ less than 10 lbs away from overweight so she is definitely not skinny either.

Would you rather she sat next to your dumbass on a plane or one of the cows from the video for a sweet 12 hour flight?

Since when is a Vegas to New Jersey flight 12 hours?

Middle seat woman is passive-aggressively complaining on her phone to someone. Woman is silent while people scout for new seat, and then window woman decides to escalate it. She calls the FL and says that she "won't be verbally abused by this bitch" Really? After 30 seconds of silence? And the only comment directed at them - in response to aisle guy - was "I eat salads."

Who was using foul language? Blonde woman gets defensive and then gets attacked by the other passengers, who apparently think she has been verbally abusing the fat people. I thought they were far worse.

Did she handle things well? Hell, no. She should have just quietly asked the flight attendant to move her. The passive aggressive stiff was rude. But the fat passenger started the abusive name calling.

Of course that’s how you would view the video. There is a certain group of ppl (i.e. that middle seat woman) who think they can do and say whatever they want with no repercussions. Then when someone calls them out or responds to their behavior they are shocked and confused.

If that women didn’t want a confrontation she shouldn’t have been talking negatively on the phone for them to hear and then making a scene. She got exactly what she deserved from everyone on the flight.

That's what I saw too. The fat woman was rough as hell, almost trying to pick a fight. The woman in the middle was obviously just feeling incredibly frustrated (and rightfully so) and didn't know that she would be allowed to move.

Honestly, it wouldn't have occurred to me that they would move me, if I was in her situation. Usually flights are fully booked, and the airline apparently thought the obese ones were just regular passengers since they allowed them to board and then also expected someone to sit between them. Airlines don't usually let you just move around for fun or because you don't like the person you're sitting next to.

So your answer to being frustrated is to call a friend/family member and start complaining about having to sit in between 2 obese people? And have this conversation within inches of the obese people?

No matter how frustrated she was, she should have taken it up with the airline. It is their fault for allowing the other two people to board in that seat arrangement. And it is also their fault that when people try to do the right thing (buying 2 seats) they take back the second seat.

I saw this video this morning. The woman was totally rude BUT I do not blame her. She could have quietly asked the flight attendant to find her another seat. The two people were HUGE. It's not fair to smash someone in between them. The woman filming was also pretty aggressive saying she was going to kick her ass. She is demanding an apology from the airlines, not sure why. She should have bought two seats for her and her large companion.

United should ban those two inconsiderate and obese people for life.

Let them enjoy the bus.

You have got to be kidding me. So fat passenger was right to threaten to kick her ass and call her a bitch for saying she was getting "squished" but would "at least stay warm"? Do you have any idea how much worse fat passenger's behavior was? She threatened her. She yelled at her. She accused her of verbal abuse. And people on the flight believed it - even though the portion was saw showed none of the actual abuse coming from the middle seat passenger.

There WAS no other seat. Flight crew are totally dismissive of complaints about this kind of thing. She shouldn't have been trash talking on her phone but they were horrid, too. Plenty of blame to go around.

Being stuck between two truly obese people on a long flight is living hell and based on the photo they were truly obese.

Why do fat people get angry when they’re called fat? If you’re too big to fit in a seat, why do you get offended when it’s pointed out?

You really need to stop smoking meth .
I guess a new were version :
The people who were sitting there minding their own business had to be insulted embarrassed shame by that woman and they had to shut up and take it.
But what stands out to you is when the woman sitting by the window finally can't take it anymore and she utters a profanity .
Just wow !!

Look you don’t get to be passive aggressive, make a scene and think no one is going to be upset. So yes, the fat passenger was right to stand up for herself. You don’t call what that unkempt woman said was verbal abuse bc you think saying “I eat salad” and “MAGA” and being passive aggressive isn’t a big deal. You act like that in your daily life and haven’t come across anyone to call you out. Well when you actually act this way with the wrong person they will call your behavior out bc it isn’t ok. You aren’t the victim bc someone gave what you put out right back to you.

Don’t start a situation if you aren’t ready for the repercussions. And yes that shabby woman in the middle seat started it.

Wow— it’s surprising to me how many people are taking the side of middle seat woman. She humiliated those people with her loud phone convo. She intentionally drew attention to herself and them. What an awful person. All she had to do was ask the FA to be reseated. Actually, all she had to do was pay a little extra for better seating — she could have booked her ticket earlier and paid a slight premium for a window or aisle seat.

Meanwhile, yes, that couple never should have booked those seats and not paid for a third— BUT it’s very possible they aren’t frequent fliers (they look old) and just didn’t know how tiny United seats are.

Imagine how awful they felt when they sat down and realized the seats were far too small, and then how much worse they felt when this giant Asshole plopped between them and humiliated them.

Airlines really need to start addressing this. Maybe the solution is to keep 1 or 2 seats open on every flight to reaccommodate people squished by the obese.

THEY started it by not buying seats as required by United's own rules - which someone posted earlier.

They accused her of verbal abuse. Sorry, but saying you are being squished isn't "Verbal abuse."

If fat passenger wanted to be ACTUALLY in the right, she should have rung for the FA and asked her to change the woman's seat WITHOUT all the trash talking and expletives.

The fat woman claims on the video that she flies every week and has never had this happen before.

They didn't feel awful. They know they are fat. She at least flies frequently. They violated United's own policy.
