Honestly: is 41 too old to have a baby?

Anonymous
Have been trying since the week before I turned 41. Got pregnant but miscarried at 10 weeks. Trying again now.

I am in the same boat, 74 born, had my first six years ago, feel too old for my second, though would love to. Thanks for the inspiration

Had my first and only at 22 but I am now thinking about having my second at 41 .. I've always thought having a baby in your 40's was not a wise decision .. (to put it mildly) but now I find myself thinking about it and I NEVER wanted any more children .. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I am now with someone that Im really in love with and that can change EVERYTHING .. Im really just pondering the idea
for right now but I need to hurry up and make a decision because Im not getting any younger! Everyone says I look 28 or 29 and I have Alot of energy and Im in pretty good shape but the fact remains Im STILL 41 so I have Alot to think about ...

11:26, you are in DC, you will have plenty of company with the older mothers.

Not at all! Had my only DC at 42. Like a lot of area folks, I was busy building up my career. This was an IVF pregnancy, as is the case for many/most women who are TTC in their 40s.

I know multiple women who have had kids in their early/mid 40s. But it wasn't their first.

Me too. Same scenario. WIsh I could have had another but the one I have is VERY special! 2nd IVF. Had her 3 weeks shy of age 44. My miracle.

Too old for me. I'll be 47 and both my children will be college aged.

Nope. Had my second at 40. However, I do have less energy. So, I would recommend that take care of your health and workout.

Every woman needs to workout because there is no way you can do all that you need to do, without taking care of your body and health. I put myself last but that was a shortsighted strategy and I am paying the price now.

Getting fit yourself should be the first thing you need to do - if you love your family. This is not vanity. This is medicine.

A friend of mine is adopting an infant and she is 48. Her husband is over 50. I'm trying to be supportive and I know this is not unheard of. But I'm a little concerned.
