Right wing Bari Weiss given control of CBS with a mandate for 'balanced and fact-based' news

The Fox News crowd is already watching Fox News. Not sure what CBS is trying to do here.

Old people lean right and CBS is the geriatrics network.

John Oliver had a great take down of Weiss on his show a couple of months ago. She's all kinds of awful.

Which of these figures she’s platforming are anywhere close to the center?

Fox News viewer average age in 2025 was 69 years old. 58 years old for CBS News, the cable networks are losing viewers faster vs network news. Though both are losing viewership.

The point is to remove moderate and reasonable voices that might push back. They are removing an ideological option, rather than trying to build something new and fresh.

The Ellisons don't care about ratings for CBS.

MSNBC viewer average is similar to Fox News at around 70. It will be interesting to see if cable news dies out completely once the boomers are no longer with us. Not wishing death on any people but cable news dying out won't hurt my feelings. Then again, the hyper-partisan sheep will find the news that's makes them happy somewhere.

I was on a CBS site tonight and noticed that there were several links to the Free Press. They apparently have an opinion column "The right response to the Minneapolis ICE shooting" but I'm not a subscriber and even if it's free I am not going to give them my email address.

Trolls keepin' busy.

Bari White is a Trumper maggot and a failed "journalist."

CBS is gone to the Fox-hole.

+1000

These people attacking Bari are vile, homophobic, bigots!

And yet "these people" probably have no objection to Rachel Maddow or Anderson Cooper. Hmm.

It's as though the whole thing is really about journalism standards

They mostly seem to fall mildly or somewhat further, to the left.

Which ones are on the left? Trump lackey and Epstein client Alan Dershowitz? NRA spokesshill Dana Loesch? Russian puppet and Elon bootlicker Taibbi? Kavanaugh apologist Bret Stephens? Self-described staunch conservative Ross Douthat? Adam Carolla who worked for Bill O’Reilly? Horseshoe resident Lee Fang who criticizes Democrats more often than Republicans?
