Spending millions on no-bud contracts and to wrap ICE vehicles with gold wraps

Government contracting documents made public this week show the agency proposed paying four companies more than $2.4 million: $2.25 million for 25 Chevrolet Tahoes from Hendrick Motorsports in North Carolina and about $174,000 for custom wrapping of Tahoes, Ford Expeditions and other vehicles by three companies, including two in the Washington region. ICE selected the companies without an open bidding process and was required to submit the documents to justify the lack of a full and open competition.

Oh, NOW we’re worried about spending? But not when money was going to promoting drag shows in Bumfykistan?

Some of us are consistent and always were. And new the DOGE cuts were never about spending. They are just shifting all the government contracts to cronies and using the money for themselves and their friends to live large. And you are on here braying about drag shows, because you are just the stupid sucker who votes for these grifters. SDASU. You never cared about spending, you don't know, and you support corruption.

+1. DOGE was an absolute joke that cost the government more money than it saved. MAGA morons don't know the difference between real oversight and cons to get you to look the other direction.

DOGE crippled my former agency (which is a favored agency) in a way that has made it very unlikely that Trump will achieve his actual policy goals … both because there is no staff and also because DOGE tanked the chance for swift bipartisan legislation.

“The Trump administration has bypassed regular procedures to award more than $13 million in contracts to the company that helped organize President Trump’s rally on Jan. 6, 2021, repeatedly creating hidden business opportunities that only one firm could win.

Those contracts have transformed Event Strategies Inc., staffed by veterans of Mr. Trump’s campaigns and first White House, from a minor federal contractor into the government’s highest-paid event planner. The firm has arranged celebrations of the Navy’s 250th birthday and a Treasury Department event to tout new savings accounts for children, called “Trump accounts.”

By law, federal agencies are generally supposed to seek competing bids before awarding contracts, to get the best value for taxpayers. Event Strategies won contracts that were particularly lucrative, the kind that other companies say they would have liked to win.

In at least five cases, other firms never got the chance.”

It now appears that half the Cabinet is living rent free in base housing. Likely getting 3 squares off the backs of the taxpayers as well.

This is completely insane. Why are these people moved around so far and so often and how much is it costing?

Trump team weighs paying $1B to get companies to stop off-shore wind farm projects

The White House is reportedly preparing to pay nearly $1 billion to an energy giant to abandon major offshore wind projects, moving from legal challenges to direct financial settlements.

After federal judges blocked five previous attempts by the Trump administration to halt wind farms currently under construction along the East Coast, senior officials are now drafting agreements to pay TotalEnergies to walk away from its leases. According to documents reviewed by The New York Times, the proposed settlements would see the Justice Department pay more than $928 million to the French energy firm.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem: I don’t know.

Neguse: I don’t know either. We can’t find it. We did find an address that’s registered to a political operative. This company that received 143 million dollars was incorporated 8 days before this contract went out.

You want the American people to believe that this is all above board, that $143 million of taxpayer money just happened to go to this one company that doesn't have a headquarters, doesn't have a website, has never done work for the federal government before and is registered apparently or attached to a residence from a political operative, and of course one of the subcontractors of that contract, as you know, is a political firm that's tied to, to you back when you were governor of South Dakota?

But, but, she said any expenditure over $100,00 had to be approved by her personally.

Who knew? Financial Times reports on unusual market trades taking place 15 minutes before Trump announcements.
