The pandemic effect on voters

People became dumber due to brain damage, some people suffered vascular and heart issues, as well as other organ damage. Many have long covid symptoms. It has affected all ages.

The response was blunt and broad because it kind of had to be. It was an unknown disease.

This. And as someone who nearly died from my kid catching Covid at prom, I’m very much team “cautious”.

Do you seriously not understand that a lockdown can be “not a good thing” in some ways and a very effective or necessary thing too?

MAGA can’t understand this. They are black and white thinkers; they don’t do nuance or understand an unfortunate necessity. Pretend you’re dealing with Frankenstein’s monster, like “fire bad” is their level of comprehension.

The head of the state teachers union now wants to be the democratic candidate for governor, which honestly enrages me.

Teachers were high risk for getting Covid and spreading Covid. You are angry that thousands more teachers did not volunteer to die or kill their family members for your convenience?

Exactly. All of these enraged moms with COVID PTSD are annoying as F.

Hope you are enjoying the demise of democracy because your kids missed some school. It was a worldwide pandemic with a novel virus. Mistakes were made. You wouldn't have been any better. Now you've tanked our country because you were angry that stuff happens that no one can control.

Honestly you people still talking about the pandemic as though you learned something make me want to puke. People like you will be the reason many will die if we are unlucky enough to have another one, because you'll fight all public health initiatives because you "know better". You guys suck.

Agree. Prove me wrong.

except we knew when it was happening. It wasn't hindsight, Fall 2020 we knew only schools were closed, not bars or restaurants or hotels. We knew those under 50 weren't at risk of death and could have had online schools for kids and families and teachers at greater risk and in person schools for those at less risk. But we didn't do this despite the damage to kids we were by then all witnessing. We didn't because we decided we preferred arguing about it, digging our heels in, scoring rhetorical points.

And we are still arguing and going over the same arguments?! Still telling parents they didn't want to spend time with their kids when what we didn't want was to witness our kids developing ocd and anxiety and depression.

No other country closed public schools for as long as blue states in America did. It was a dumb move to do that. Kids are paying for it years later. And it's a big reason why Trump is president today. So it was very consequential, and people are right to be angry at the progressives that shut down public schools while keeping private schools, bars, restaurants etc open. It's indefensible and we have Republican rule as a consequence of progressive fanaticism from that era.

So, yes, it is worth revisiting. Progressives were the disaster that brought us the Trump disaster.

That's weird. I thought he lost the election in 2020.

What a liar you are.

Many people under 50 dropped dead from COVID-19. I knew two of them.

And teachers aren't required to expose themselves to death for your kids.

And restaurants/bars were closed in my state.

Where were you going to find the teachers willing to put themselves in harm’s way. You don’t think those teachers had families that they were concerned about possibly infecting. How about the teachers that were over fifty years of age, or those younger than fifty that had compromised immune systems. You had more teachers leave the profession during and immediately after Covid because of selfish people like you PP. Yes Florida remained open, but as long as you are a military veteran, you don’t need a college degree to teach in Florida. That’s how desperate for teachers this country is in need, and you wanted to make it worse for them because you can’t or don’t want to spend time with your offspring.
