CWG now says 4-8 “ |
And add to it that Karen won’t shovel her sidewalks, so we don’t want the kids falling on the ice. |
I have 9-11 inches for Monday.
It doesn't matter what the forecast is wherever you live. It matters how much snow they get out in Clifton, Lorton, Great Falls, etc. |
Are you characterizing this impending storm as inequitable? 😆 |
I remember this!! It was mid 90s because I was born in 82 and this happened when I was in 5th or 6th grade. I remember ice skating on my friends driveway and having sleepovers all week. My mom finally came to collect me, with a sled to pull my sleeping bag home, after like a week because the roads were still unsafe. We ice skated all around the neighborhood! |
Fleecevest is too busy trying to figure out how to get Orange Jesus to appoint him; he never cared about kids and he REALLY doesn’t care now. |
NWS coming in at 6-8” for the whole region now, which is an increase for us in Fairfax County - yesterday they were saying around 5”. Also in checking weather.gov, they are showing the snow coming in Sunday night/very early Monday and then snow pretty much all day Monday and Monday night. That says to me 3 full days of closures since the snow is going to stop on Monday night and they will wait until the storm is over to do most of the plowing at the schools in the parking lots and bus loops and such. |
I need some explanation on this? |
The PP is incorrect. We are contracted for 195 days. We have 195 days on our work calendar. The district builds in extra instructional hours, but no extra days. We aren’t working an extra 13 days. If we have a snow day we are actually working one less day than contracted. |
It's also because the school day is so stupidly long. A more reasonable school district would have better school day hours and a couple extra days in the schedule for snow days. |
Nope. FCPS is handling it perfectly using the parameters set by the state of Virginia. |
Don't be so pedantic. Those "hours" are served as "days." You're not given "X hours off school today", you're given a day. |
Superintendent Reid is that you getting a feel for what parents expect from you next week? |
Nope. Just a longtime teacher who appreciates knowing what the calendar is and not having it extended at the end of the year or losing spring break because of some freak blizzard year. Moving to the 990 hours/13 built in snow days was a move that Garza made, and it was brilliant. |
