How do local and national compare, roughly? |
| If they don’t report local, then it doesn’t matter how they compare because there is nothing to compare. |
| Re local performance, not surprisingly, the DC crowd overachieved. For example, in one category (verbal) my DD got 96th percent nationally, which was 87th percentile locally. |
It's weird that people think scoring high on the HSPT would prevent your child from getting into Benilde? They won't accept kids who score to low. It offers extra executive function support not a LD program or remediation. |
There aren’t local percentiles on our report. Where are you seeing that? |
SJC describes it as an LD program: Our Benilde Program, named for visionary and innovative Lasallian educator St. Benilde Pierre Romancon, offers a college preparatory program for highly motivated students with diagnosed mild learning differences. |
I know of one person last year who applied for Benilde and was accepted to SJC, but not the Benilde program. I guess they thought he would do fine in the regular program with some accommodations. So yes, it's possible good grades and a high test scores might make you ineligible for the program. But that being said, I don't know what SJC's Benilde criteria are. |
| I don’t think good grades and a high HSPT makes kids ineligible for the Benilde Program. Benilde kids are in SJC Honors courses alongside the other students and (according to my DC) are super smart. They need more time for tests and have an extra study hall, but the Benilde kids in DC’s classes are overachievers rather than under performers. |
| Do all applicants that apply to Benilde get interviewed? |
How do you know all of this? I must be missing the local percentile on my kid’s report somewhere? I also wonder what local would mean in our area. ADW? Arlington diocese? State by state? |
That’s all? |
Of course, because they get extra time |
Tell me you don't have a kid with a learning difference without telling me. |
| Re my earlier post, the local scores were on my DD’S practice HSPT test in the spring (called the PHSPT). We didn’t get local scores on the actual test, just National. |
| Did scores come out already in the Arlington Diocese? |
