Anyone know when the results are out? My kid thought it was very VERY hard. Curious, of other experiences?

The schools get the scores long before we will.

My son’s friends (who took the test last week) thought it was slightly more difficult than the PSAT 8/9 they took in October.

My son thought it wasn’t very challenging, and was able to confidently finish each section. He said there were only two words he didn’t know.

We did the Barron’s practice test, and he struggled the most with logic and conversions, so we concentrated on that for studying.

Where did your student take the test?

My daughter and her friend both studied for the HSPT and thought that the test was very easy compared to all of the practice tests they did.

Go to the ADW site — it’s clear when you’ll receive the results via email. And yes, the schools (including yours if your child is in an ADW school) get them long before you do.

It depends on where your DC took the test. Mine took it in early December in Arlington last year and received his results about three weeks later. I think those who took it in DC received results in January.

Do all independent upper schools require this test for 9th grade entry? How would my DC study for it?

If your child took the test on the 5th,school and teachers get results on Monday. We get them by Saturday

I assume you mean just independent Catholic schools. It varies - St Anselm’s and Georgetown Prep use the SSAT, for example, and Stone Ridge has its own entrance exam. Visi and Gonzaga use HSPT. So you need to check the school(s) you’re interested in.

Study the same way you would for the SSAT. Get a study book, get a tutor, or use an online platform like Test Innovators.

From the ADW site:

Q: When are test scores released?
A: All parents/guardians of students taking the HSPT will receive a copy of their child’s HSPT scores via email one week after high schools receive reports. All test results will be emailed from Scholastic Testing Services, Inc. Electronic results will be emailed from reports@ststesting.com. Catholic schools are not permitted to release students’ scores.

This is a much faster turnaround than in years past -- when my child took it the test was on 11/30 and the results came in 1/26, or almost two months later

I mean what else can you do? The die is cast for next year and you can’t retake it.

I understand just /wanting to know already/ but because you can only take it once, it kind of doesn’t matter when you get the scores. It is what it is.

Last year my DD took it 11/30 and we got the scores 12/15. She took it at her Arlington Catholic k-8 and we got the scores via email from the principal. I remember the kids who took it in Arlington but didn’t go to a parish school got them later (maybe a couple weeks?) and people who took it in DC got them MUCH MUCH later (maybe mid January?). So it really depends
