As has been reported in this thread numerous times ML,DCE & NL are all oversubscribed. ML brought a team of 30+ to Naptown |
nobody from Maryland is bringing their kid from any of those teams to Virginia to play for VLC. |
Good coaches, VLC is still a bad club. |
Disagree. Once HS starts, clubs only practice on weekends and commute becomes less of an issue. MD families definitely willing to drive for good coaching, especially on weekends. The real question is can VLC attract enough core talent to become viable? NoVa 28 class doesn't seem as talented as previous classes in the region. |
There are a bunch of strong Virginia players on both DCE and NL, many of whom are entering PVI this fall. In a perfect world they would all play together on the VLC 2028 team. But at this point it’s going to be hard to get them to migrate, even with good coaches and a shorter commute. |
Tell me you’ve never crossed the American Legion bridge in the summer without telling me you’ve never crossed the American legion bridge in the summer. As a MD family playing on a WINNING above mentioned team not a chance I’m headed over that bridge to join a defunct team with a club with a horrible reputation. why would any of us trade being in the best tournaments with great exposure to play for VLC. Any of the Virginia talent we have have already been burned by VLC. You gotta be a real dummy to head there, or desperate because you don’t get play time. However please do take our bench! It is just going to be a new combo of the same kids that are floating around on the current NoVA teams. |
I do not think VLC realizes how many people have been burned or do not want to be burned. If they cannot get a 2028 team together this year, then they should stop trying... |
i don’t think they care. If they can get 15 kids to sign up then that’s money on their pocket. But to build a viable competitive team at this point is laughable. |
Agreed. there are probably a million reasons that VLC 2028 never stuck. there should definitely be a well-coached and competitive elite team in NoVA and VLC had the chance to be that, but it was 4 years ago. The talent is there and they should be hard-wired into the top public and private VA high school programs, but they just aren't. At least at this age. |
It doesn't stick because you need a full-time and well paid director with some business sense to run the operation. On top of that, you need a well organized board of directors who are overseeing and making sure the plan is being implemented and adjusted for obstacles. These things don't run themselves. Look at the success of Madlax, DCE/BLC and NL. These guys are running a business about lacrosse first. VLC is rudderless. |
Reports of Madlax helmets at rival teams tryouts over the last couple weeks. Did Cab f*** it up again? All signs point to yes. vLC and true this is your chance. Don’t blow it. |
how many different tryouts did you check out to reach that conclusion? and, are any teams holding tryouts this early? you sound like a troll, with a foul mouth, stirring the pot. That said, MadLax is a revolving door so there is nothing newsworthy about players coming and going every season. |
How did the Nike Nationals DMV team do, and can someone who played report on whether it was a good experience? wondering if the earlier reports that Madlax hijacked the team with its own players proved to be true. |
What tryouts. Most only started late this week and really starting next week. Now saying that there have been rumors some ML kids will be showing up at some tryouts and they are unexpected. |
Kids who don’t get much playing time will always look around. Nothing new.
Just look at the Nike roster and you will have your answer. Lots of players from NL and DCE. |
