Your kid wouldn't be attending it now if it were 170th. Now 50ish and well within top 100. NEU: mission accomplished. |
| It isn't rocket science why the school gets so many applications, the acceptance rate alone drives FOMO and bragging rights for students who get in, which drives even more people to apply the next year in a self feeding loop. The acceptance rate likely will be 1.5 to 2% this year, I wouldn't be surprised if drops as low as 0.5% in the coming year or two. |
The biggest question is this: If you are not applying or not attending, what should you care what other people do or do not do? Not one person that I know who attends or attended HYPSM, and I know quite a few, come here to rant about kids who got into lesser schools - but the opposite/inverse is not necessarily true, so these threads just state that OP was rejected and not feeling so great about it. Get over it, though. You are making an arse of yourself. |
Same with negative false information. Why bother doing that? It’s not fair to people legitimately looking for info. If you know nothing about the school, you should have no opinion either way. |
Bragging rights for attending northeastern? Now I have heard of everything. |
+1. Agree. The OP and those like them come across as extremely ignorant. I have not seen posts to hype a school, but I have definitely seen posts to try to spread false information. I am shocked that the latter is allowed. Perhaps such posts are not about the school at all, but instead about how the OP feels about himself and his life. Be grateful you are not him. |
Go back to your troll like existence because no one cares what you have heard. |
| NEU is a fantastic school in a great location. Every year the students are getting better and better. They have incredible outcomes. The co-op program isn't for everyone, but what a great experience if that is the path you choose! |
It is a fine school but by USNWR it isn’t T50. Bragging rights just isn’t the right word. It is a solid school no doubt. |
Why is Boston so desirable? The winters are brutal and it is an expensive city. I went to college there and would say the location was a strong negative. |
Oh it’s a thing. People get dupped into thinking their artificially low acceptance rate is impressive. |
Dorms? Most kids are in apartments sophomore year, and most are only doing one coop. |
Each year 100,000 students and their parents are duped. For some reason, they aren't as smart as you. Makes sense. Or not. |
What is artificial about it? A 2% acceptance rate is still a 2% acceptance rate. Not even Columbia can touch neu, even with 4% acceptance rate. |
Now you are just trolling. NEUs acceptance rate is around 7%. But they take 1/3 early decisions, and 1/4 of their class is study abroad which aren't counted. Sure they have an impressive yield of 50%, but factor in its study abroad campuses and its actual acceptance rate is 15% or so. Much much different than 2% |
