No more masks at VA privates?

So your suggestion is that state makes decisions for people's kids? You are thinking state will make a better, more informed, well-designed choice for each kid? Look at how government operates. Proof is there.

This is why my kids have gone to private school from day one. I trust the administration of the private school my kids attend to make the best decision for the students (including my child). The school had the necessary expertise or employs it when necessary. The government, especially with a dopey Trump sycophant like Youngkin in charge, is out of the picture when it comes to my kid. The State (Commonwealth) in this case can go jump if a cliff. Under the Constitution they have no ability to supersede the schools decisions.

You trust the administration of the school! Ha. That's a good one.

Yup. Sure do. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be paying them almost $50,000 a year to educate and take care of my kid. Sending your child to Private school is a whole different ballgame than going to public school. It’s a choice that responsible parents don’t make lightly.

The irony… Youngkin’s kid attends private in MD where mask mandates are enforced. I’m sure they are all vaxxed and boosted.

Give me white male supremacy, or give me death. Let’s stop pretending we are debating liberty.

+1000 AND no one is saying parents can't choose to send their kids masked. You can still mask your kid, no one is forcing you not to. If masks work and your kid is vaccinated, you really should not worry about what others are doing.

I personally have evaluated the studies that have been done on masking and children and it is NOT in the best interest to mask children. Don't care what you do with yours.

And mine are all vaccinated.

The only downfall is that I don't live in Virginia, unfortunately.

I love the, I personally evaluated, comments. You likely aren’t qualified to evaluate any of it, but the new norm is we are all equal experts in all fields.

I’m sure you’ll diagnose and treat your cancer better than someone who has spent their life’s mission here. I’m certain that’s the choice you’d make - ha!

I'm sorry, who has spent their life mission here? It is a novel virus, remember, one that has challenged and evaded the experts all along, no?

But if we are to believe those who are qualified to evaluate - masks and vaccines work.

I'm not an expert in the field. I just don't understand why you care if I don't mask my kids if yours are masked and vaccinated.

This. You’re entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.

They also “did their own research” by scrolling on their phone on the toilet.

Because masking your kids prevents their potentially infected air particals for getting into the air others are breathing, which increases the likelihood of infection. Masks work both ways, they protect the person wearing it as well as those around them. Sad you are g willing to have your kids take a basic measure to protect others, including their teachers.

Infographic example of how two people in masks protects both of them better.

Have you thought about asking your pediatrician what they recommend? More people should probably be getting advice from their doctors.

You are quick to dump the kids you found disgusting to another school that will be built from scratch? Because they deserve that??

Remember that Nazi style segregation and torture started just like that, first thinking the other section of the society is disgusting, and that it is a class of people to be feared.

History is repeating itself so quickly, and you are not taking any lessons from it.

Those kids are welcome to join us when their stupid parents get them vaccinated and masked. Done.

Pregnant teachers and those trying to conceive, especially.

And the people who came after a career in another field who are in their 50s and 60s.

...That's just about everyone.

COVID has even increased stillbirths. I thought the Catholic Church cared about the unborn.

Stillbirths and birth complications increased a lot. BUT, are you sure it's just covid? It could be covid shot also. My coworker who got the covid shot during pregnancy just delivered a 3 pound baby. No covid history.

I learnt growth can be an issue with covid shot. Not all babies suffer from it, but some may. Research should investigate the effect of covid on a pregnant mom/baby, and the effect of covid shot on mom/baby. Until we know research results we cannot know for sure.

You are not qualified to make this assessment.

Have you read this?

And have you seen that several European countries are ending all mandates? But they are stupid and obtuse too, right? Maybe ask your pediatrician before you decide....

What are the "facts" you speak of? I'd love to know! Because as far as I can tell this has all become a political nightmare. There are no facts, just agenda, and frankly I'm sick of being a pawn. We are all vaxxed and boosted and masked here in the DMV..arguably more than anywhere else. Yet have some of the most severe restrictions, BUT they have not put us in a more favorable (aka safe) position than anywhere else.

Am I wrong? Are we better off? Are our numbers better? Are we safer than our peers whose children have not been subject to these awful requirements - silent lunches??? Eating outdoors in the freezing cold?

Please tell me this has all been worth it...

I wish I could tell you this was all worth it. I've lived in a few different states across the country and still have friends there. I regularly talk with them. They have all been better of than us, frankly. I am so done.

Yes, we’re better off every time an alt-right COVID denier, anti-vaxxer on air personality dies. The schadenfreude is real.

We’re so done with dumb. But eventually Darwin will win.

Your kid eating outside in fresh cold air will be just fine. Perhaps my aunt won’t be if she got a breakthrough case.

There are facts. And the only ones politicizing it are dying on a hill of supposedly owning libs.

Triple vaccinated personalities have also been dying. Just look carefully.
