U13G - MFS coach telling his player to hit girl harder

It is a little much but it is New Jersey. Why is it being posted here? People are interested in PDA 2nd team and Match fit?

What context? The video doesn't change what the guy said. It tells you maybe the reason he said it, but does it excuse the words?

The coach is encouraging the player that just got fouled really hard to defend herself and not take that kind of punishment. The video was edited by the old fired Matchfit Director. I would want my coach telling my daughter the same thing.

+1. Many kids need to go in harder than they do. This is especially true for girls where there can be a big disparity in the level of aggression. Not committing to the tackle is the best way to get injured. Going in hard is not the same as playing dirty. The coach was not screaming at his player to "stud her", or "go for her knees". He was just telling his player to "hit her hard" which is good, solid advice - especially if the player in question is getting knocked around by her opposite number who is going in a lot harder.

If it is a fair play then I have to be okay with the play.
I can only choose my daughters coach not who she plays against.
This is interesting only because the white jersey player made a reckless challenge/tackle on player and not ball and she is hurt and her team is complaining about the words of the other coach.
I suspect the full audio would reveal a lot more that might be worse all around.

None of you can see what’s going on here? The old matchfit Director has an ax to grind and put that video together. She got fired and now she’s trying to ruin the club. Go to the comments of the Facebook post and you can see the whole video. None of you see this? I have no problem with the coach telling a player to defend herself after taking a cheap shot in the back.

Nonsense. You are the worst type of soccer parent who understands nothing of playing a physical sport. I used to encounter parents like you all the time on the sideline of my daughters' games. Every time their daughter fell over they would scream at the poor ref that a foul had occurred and " protect the children". And yes - injuries do happen in contact sports - but telling a kid to hit harder - especially when she is being knocked around by a kid who is playing significantly harder than she is - is well within the bounds of acceptable. If you want a 0% chance of an ACL injury then enroll your daughter in knitting class. "Hit hard" is not the same as "Play dirty" or "Go for her knees" or "Injure her" - and this is especially ture when the advice ios being given to a young lady who is clearly being muscled out of the game.

Most ACL tears on boys in soccer is from contact, most ACL tears on girls in soccer is from non-contact; however, the girls often injure them in defensive function (typically stopping while traveling backwards, changing direction, landing from a jump). Soccer is a contact sport, soccer is the beautiful game. If your coach is joysticking your player ("hit her harder"), he's probably overcoaching all the time anyways.

We are talking about soccer here, not rugby or football. Soccer is about making skilled tackles and not "hitting hard". If you want your kid hitting others, I suggest you have them change sports. Usually when a player hits someone on purpose in soccer, they are given and yellow card or a red card depending how dangerous of a play the "hit" was. Does it happen? Yes. Do coaches ask their players to hit other players whether it's soft or hard? Absolutely not. Not even in High School, lol.
